Remember You (Adventure Time cover)

A song I made for my Sound II class in October 2021. The project was to create a 1-minute piece that 'said something' through sound.

"The name of this assignment, ‘Say Something’, inspired my piece, which intends to musically express the attempt of sincere communication within a troubled relationship. Written in second person, the track revolves around epitomizing musical dynamics - through the progressional development of volume/amplitude, harmonization, instrumentation, and structure - as a means of trying to ‘solidify’ and successfully convey a message to the listener (who is addressed as the singer’s partner). Thus, the song progresses with oncoming layers of elements and intensity along the way, notably repeating the introductory lyrics at the end - and in totality, these artistic choices serve to sonically represent the struggle of trying to get through to someone dear."

I recently got an plug-in acoustic electric guitar, so I wanted to try a recording set-up for acoustic covers (or songs). Heading Home, which is one of my favourite songs ever, was also the first song I ever learned to play along to on the guitar (and in a way was actually a motivation for starting guitar since I really wanted to cover it). So doing this cover really feels like I've come around full-circle.

I'm not really that good at guitar at all, but I thought the result was pretty neat, and I'm proud with how this 'performance' turned out! Now that I have a proper guitar set-up, I might start doing more acoustic covers, hopefully getting better at playing and singing at the same time lmao

This was recorded with a Shure SM7B & Fender Redondo Player both plugged into a Focusrite Scarlett Solo, then mixed in FL Studio 21

Heading Home by Gryffin (Acoustic Cover)

My final project track, made for COMS 477 in Concordia University's COMS program.

I recorded, produced, mixed and mastered this song all in FL Studio 21 using a Sennheiser MK4 microphone and a Scarlett Focusrite Solo Gen 3 interface. Written and made in 4 days
