"The late 70’s soul and funk hymn “I Think I’ll Do Some Stepping (On My Own)” by New York based singer Sandy Barber got reworked for modern vintage requirements. The original version was featured on Sandy Barber’s album “The Best Is Yet To Come.” from 1978 and it’s reconstruction has been done by Opolopo from Stockholm. The dj and producer from Sweden previously appeared on labels like Swedish Brandy Productions, Local Talk, Tokyo Dawn Records or Ebo Records with modern house sounds and a strong soul affection. His currently released work is a classical edit that breathes the emotive energy of a strong base material but should also delight unprejudiced ears and dancing feet, because the art of editing has been done with a keen sense in here. Slight changes and cuts, as well as decently added sounds straightens the original with its musical complexity and different parts into an ongoing late night disco soul pleasure. Very nice! (Jan) "

"This amazing mid tempo Golden Disco classic was originally released back in 1982 on the New Yorks Moonglow record label. Originally Produced by Greg Carmichael and written by one of the best writing teams of their time, James Calloway, Sonny T Davenport & the legendary Leroy Burgess. In 1988 Leroy was commissioned by Bobby & Steve’s Zoo Experience Records to do a 6 track mini album, with Barley Breaking Even (BBE) being reproduced and re –vocaled by Leroy and Orange Juice Jones man, Tyrone Williams. With the Disco sound still very much at the forefront of today’s club scene.

Groove Odyssey’s Michael Hughes commissioned Opolopo to bring BBE back to the dance floor and what a job he has done. "Stand up and be counted! Speak the truth from your heart! Spread the word about love and marriage equality!

I've been banging on about my new single, "Be Free With Your Love", for quite some time. The inspiration for it came from the news I read about the struggle for same sex marriage all over the world from Australia, where I started writing the song, to the USA, France and beyond. The fight continues today with protests in Paris and the argument being debated in Washington DC. Even in far flung places like Uganda, the freedom to be your true self is under siege.

So, for the time being, as a sign of solidarity, I decided to put up the full stream of "Be Free With Your Love" on my Soundcloud page ahead of its official release. I wrestled with myself about the idea of doing this because I think the fight should not be commercialized.

However, music can be transforming as it was in the spirit of the late 60s, early 70s and mid 80s, when some songs were written with the express purpose of sending a message to the world about certain causes and events. Whether they are protest songs, songs of hope, something thought provoking, or simply ones that make people happy and have a little boogie on the dancefloor, they take on more personal meanings for many while the battle wages on.

Several close friends have suggested I make the connection known between "Be Free With Your Love" and the inspiration behind it. The title was even co-opted from a news article about gay people from two different countries being threatened with deportation because the federal government doesn't recognize their relationship.

Being a proud, openly gay man for nearly three decades, as well as someone who would like the naturally given right to marry the person of my choice, I gave in and decided to share this song today. I've rambled on enough!

Five small words say so much.

"Be Free With Your Love" is a collaboration by super Swedish DJs, Drop Out Orchestra, and New York City based songwriter/producer/DJ, Vinny Vero. The single will be available from all online, digital retailers on April 8."
