The full recording from my all night session at StereoBar in Montreal on the 8th of September for Les Beaux Dimanches. 

Returning home from my first Burning Man experience only a couple of days before, this night was an opportunity to channel and express a uniquely inspired energy. This week in the desert was many things, but more than anything it was an affirmation of the power of art and music. It deepened my gratitude to be participating in that and to have the chance to connect with people through music, especially in places like StereoBar. 

Getting to reunite with many friends with whom I had shared this BM  experience, as well as so many treasured Montreal friends and dancers was really special. It created a type of intimacy and togetherness that only happens when many things line up just right. 

The energy throughout the night was unforgettable.

Playing on the Robot Heart bus at Burning Man is a dream I’ll never get tired of living. Robot Heart is a constant source of inspiration to me and so many others! Grateful for the opportunity to play on the bus again. 

This year (2024), my set time was Monday Morning at 7:00 am so I wanted to prepare something special for the beginning of an unforgettable week. 

I decided to play a live set filled with most of the Edits/Remixes I’ve made along the years (for example: Edits/Remixes I’ve made of Alice Coltrane, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Michelle Gurevich, Acid Pauli, Nicolas Jaar, Fred Again, etc…). 

I honestly couldn’t be happier with the result of this experiment!

Opposite Direktion’s mission is to be messengers of deep instrumental house music with groovy baselines. Both born in Lebanon, Elie & Roland have spent the last 5 years perfecting their sound and distinctive style from their studio in the heart of Montreal. With each having a unique personality, different schools of thought and musical backgrounds, they’ve created a dynamic melodic sound layered with elements of deep, minimal/deep tech and progressive music. 
Having started as DJs playing at private events, they made an impact on electronic music aficionados through their refined performances inspired by different genres including contemporary jazz, oriental percussions, and psychedelic rock. OD strives to create the perfect flow between acoustic & electronic sounds and take you on an emotive journey not bound by the constraints of time. With several shows under their belt, most recently in Cartagena/Colombia, Animal Nightclub Tulum/Mexico, AIM Festival Montreal, Front Republic festival, FRst Rave Back event and residencies at Clandestino and Nhau bar, they are making Opposite DireKtion a recognized name in the Montreal Night Life scene and electronic music industry. 
OD continues to explore different styles of sounds on each episode of their monthly podcast, “Shapes of Stories”. Stay tuned for more unique releases as they start creating their own productions in the coming months.
