A Hora do Angelus, mediante o Toque das Ave-Marias ou Toque das Trindades, corresponde às 6h00, 12h00 e 18h00, e relembra aos católicos (através de um toque especial dos sinos das igrejas e capelas) o momento da Anunciação – feita pelo anjo Gabriel à Virgem Maria – da concepção de Jesus Cristo, acreditada como livre do pecado original. Nesse momento, é comum ao cristão parar a sua atividade por uns breves momentos, e se recolher meditação e oração.

No mundo cristão estes três momentos de oração querem reforçar a sensibilidade de comunhão entre Deus e os homens. Pela manhã, a oração objetiva oferecer todos os trabalhos do dia a Deus, como gratidão pela sua Encarnação. Ao meio dia, por intercessão da Virgem Maria que deu seu sim a Deus, os cristãos pedem a Deus os meios de louvá-lo e adorá-lo no apogeu do dia, quando Cristo foi crucificado para salvá-los. A tardinha a oração objetiva agradecer os favores da Divina Providência durante o dia, pedir perdão e recomendar a alma à Santíssima Trindade durante a noite que vem, por meio da Virgem Maria

Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum. Benedicta tu in mulieribus,
et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Iesus.

Miserere (Allegri)  Era executado na Capela Sistina durante as matinas, como parte do serviço exclusivo das tênebras, na quarta e sexta-feira da Semana Santa. Foi a última de doze versões do Miserere em falsobordone compostas e executadas nestes serviços desde 1514, e era a mais popular delas; a uma determinada altura, chegou a ter a transcrição de sua música proibida por lei, e só podia ser executada em serviços privados - o que aumentava o mistério em torno da obra. A versão que acabou por "escapar" do Vaticano é na realidade uma compilação de versos musicados por Allegri em 1638 e Tommaso Bai (também Baj, 1650-1718), feita em 1714
