Jamiroquai made a large initial splash in 1993 with Emergency on Planet Earth, a psychedelic melange of tight funky rhythms, acid rock intimations, and '70s soul melodies. Frontman Jay Kay introduces himself with an environmentally oriented manifesto inside the sleeve, and his lyrics smack of idealist save the planet revolution. But this revolution would be held on the dancefloor if the band's impressive rhythm section had anything to say about it. Horns, string arrangements, and a didgeridoo provide full texture on most of the album's tunes, and the socially aware party vibe raged into the U.K.'s number one album slot. For a debut, Emergency shows quite a range of diversity, from the up-tempo jazzy instrumental "Music of the Mind" to the stop-start funk of "Whatever It Is, I Just Can't Stop."

He is back!

With his new stage name "OPTIBOB", fresh energy, lots of inspiration and boundless passion, he returns to the DJ booth and to his musical roots. After a four-year break, he is drawn back to the boards that mean his world.

His musical journey through electronic music has now lasted an impressive 28 years. The last 25 years in Berlin have been the best, most influential and most successful for him.
At the end of 2015 he decided to take a creative break.

He quickly made a name for himself in the Berlin nightlife scene with his radio show on the pirate radio station "TwenFM" and his own unusual underground party series "stylomat". Printed coffee filters served as flyers, which many still fondly remember to this day. But the choice of party locations was also special, such as a former brothel or a former Stasi sauna.

Various Berlin club owner also came regularly to celebrate and were enthusiastic about OPTIBOB's special track selection and technical skills as a DJ, as well as about his energetic, attractive and distinctive performance. The first bookings and residencies in clubs like Cookies, Tresor, WMF, 90°, Sage or Sternradio were not long in coming. Other clubs followed later, such as KaterHolzig, Ritter Butzke, King Size, Trust, Chalet and many more.

Over the last 25 years, OPTIBOB's journey has taken him through different house genres and from the many different Berlin clubs to various national cities and international destinations such as Spain, Italy, France, Greece, Malta, Romania, Thailand and Russia and Mexico.

A very special highlight is undoubtedly the EXPO 2015 in Milan, where he represented the city of Berlin as a DJ in the Germany Pavilion and played the open-air stage every evening for a week with thousands of guests from all over the world with typical Berlin deep house sound .

OPTIBOB has had the privilege of performing alongside some of the big names in the international electronic scene, such as Toni Humphries, Hector Romero, Judge Jules, David Morales, Armand van Helden, Fedde le Grand, Axwell, Bob Sinclair, Lenny Fontana, Eddie Amador, Eddie Thoneick, DJ Chuckie, DJ Deep, AlexKid, Francois K, Phonique, Kiki, Ben Klock, Haito, Westbam, Sebastian Krieg, Eric D. Clark, Tom Novy, Plastik Funk.

In 2008 he received international attention with his groovy old-school remix of New York house legend Lenny Fontana (Powerhouse) on the Ministry of Sound Germany/Caus-N-ff-ct record “Wait 4 U”.
The record was licensed in Italy and the UK (Ministry of Sound UK), among others.

He was given a great honor when, in 2009, Giorgio Moroder gave him the opportunity to produce an exclusive remake of "The Chase" from 1978, which came from the Oscar-winning soundtrack from the movie "Midnight Express". In cooperation with the hit producer OGB, the track was released with exclusive remixes by Todd Terry and Lenny Fontana, among others, and made it into the top ten of various dance charts throughout Europe (e.g. DDC # 5, Ibiza Club Charts # 5, Swiss DJ -Charts #7), as well as on some international compilations.

At the end of 2015 he decided to end the journey with his previous stage name Calvin Bosco and take a creative break.
In 2019 he returned with new artist name OPTIBOB to his musical roots and behind the DJ booth.

BACK TO THE ROOTS!

His musical roots lie in Funk & Jazz flavored Deep House and UK Garage House, peppered with elements of Techno and Tech House, to which he is now returning as OPTIBOB. In the luggage are many new ideas and projects.

In spring 2019 he successfully completed his Audio Engineering Diploma studies at the renowned SAE Institute Berlin in order to be able to use what he had learned to implement the ideas he had collected in recent years in his own productions.

Back in his old hometown Munich, among other things, an adaptation of his legendary Berlin underground event series "stylomat" is planned.
