San Francisco based record label Roam Recordings celebrates its 100th release with a compilation from beloved alumni and new artists offering original work spanning darker shades of disco, cosmic techno, psychedelic, and acid house. What started as a group of ravers in the mid 90s that roamed the countryside (mostly in the US, Canada, and Mexico) looking for parties has evolved under the direction of its boss Jason Peters into a record label featuring a diverse array of internationally known artists. The in tent of the record label is to continue the journey in search of new sounds while honoring the past. The Roam 100 Compilation is a milestone in that journey. It has been arranged to be enjoyed from beginning to end and to be rifled through at will.

After a split single with Muslimgauze and a single of their own on Optimo Trax we are delighted to present the first Optimo Trax album release by Italy’s Underspreche. The album is split across two fours track EPs, released two weeks apart (and also as a complete digital album).

We try to avoid over-hyping our releases but this one is really fully deserving of the hyperbole I am about to bestow on it. Underspreche first sent me some music a few years ago and seeing them grow and develop has been nothing short of astonishing. I think this is some of the most nuanced and advanced music that Optimo Trax has ever released. There are several dance floor destroyers here but also music for more developed / leading-edge floors too, as well as some music simply designed to make one’s mind melt.  It is very rare that I listen to 4/4 music at home but this album has been a constant on my hi fi since it was sent to me.

Super advanced organic sampling, inspired vocalisations, acute psychedelic modular sequences, forward thinking drum programming, this is exactly what I hoped Optimo Trax would be about when I started the label. 

From Underspreche’s souls to yours.

In their words - 

Our idea is to make an album based on our concept of dancefloor. The entire work was inspired by the classical composition by Carl Maria von Weber called "Aufforderung zum Tanz“; we used the Italian version, "Invito alla danza”. 


We wanted to transpose the classical idea of this work (based on the Knight who invites a lady to dance in a salon of a fairy palace) to our world where the dance floor it’s a club, not so different from Weber salon in a certain way! 


Four track 12" EP released on November 18th 2016. Distributed by Kompakt and Rub A Dub. Part 2 and full digital release on December 2nd.

Hunting for an edit

Tumble outta bed and I stumble to the kitchen, Pour myself a cup of ambition Yawn and stretch and try to come to life, Jump in the shower and the blood starts pumpin' Out on the street the traffic starts jumpin' With folks like me on the job from Nein 2 Five.
Tkuz, AKA Juan Harrison is probably one of the most prolific producers on the scene at the moment. Spearheading the Mexican assault on electronic music with a host of productions on a host of different labels... 
He has landed on Neil and Ian's Nein records with Delincuente on the Nein 2 Five Compilation, once with the unstoppable Ali X & Ximena, and once more on his own with Delincuente, a SLOW monster which twists the head and melts the mind. Rarely does music which peaks at 100bpm been as pinpoint and precise on the floor as this one.
The vocal echoes alongside a snare which could fell a forest. which would not be good for the environment but at the very least would clear a space to dance in.

PREMIERE | Tkuz - Delincuente [Nein Records] 2018

Rounding off the fantastic EP by Alma & Mater is HADE’s BELGIUM MIX of the title track, which perfectly compliments the other remix (by ADA) by going in the opposite direction. Instead of smoothing off the edges he exposes them even more, adding sampled old-school bass and drum sounds with a twinkle in the eyes.
