I called this record I’m Aloud because, in creating it, I had to realize that I was allowed to break the rules.  I just decided to forget what everybody else was doing and find my own wave.  The resulting body of work is honest, original and generally weird as hell.  Im very proud of the EP and I hope it inspires other artists to get weird in their very own ways as well.  Be allowed.  Be aloud.

The latest track from Santa Barbara’s Candyland, "Murda" is a powerful trap tune that is sure to be smashing dance floors from Los Angeles to New York City this summer. Incorporating hip hop infused vocals and a stabbing bassline, it is a creative venture into the two worlds that reside between the contrasting genres of music. Halfway between the bassPOD stage at Electric Daisy Carnival and a rap concert, the track will appeal to fans of dubstep, bass music, and even some hip hop enthusiasts. As the electronic music world continues to evolve, producers have melded genres beyond the classic female vocals-over-beats combination. Candyland’s work on "Murda" welcomes her to this experimental category.

Josie Martin (aka Candyland) is releasing her newest piece on bass-heavy label Smog Records owned by 12th Planet. The track adds another strong original to Candyland’s previous singles on Spinnin’ Records, Monstercat, and Ultra, next to several successful remixes under her belt from multiple genres, giving her “OG touch” to everything from Nicky Romero and Krewella’s "Legacy" to Lil Jon’s infamous "Outta Your Mind", Cash Cash and brand new Major Lazer & DJ Snake's "Lean On". Always covering new ground, Candyland’s next release will be out on Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak label in June.
