 I started working on a draft of this mix a while ago out of a desire to find solace and to comfort my spirit. Throughout this sonic expedition, I pondered love, music, and the path that led me to where I am today as a person, as well as the infinite possibilities that lie ahead. Even though most of this music is relatively new to me, a lot of it sounds like an ode to the music and the places that defined me throughout the years but recontextualized, balancing the club/rave influences with my softer sides. It’s an effort in embracing diverse emotions, exploring femininity and what it means to me through liquid and dynamic sounds that reflect the ebb and flow of water (mediterranean water in particular). This mix ended up being a very personal journey but I hope listeners get to resonate with it in their own way.

Producers, DJs, club promoters and queer activists Nina Hudej and NinaBelle are recognized and creative co-creators of the current Ljubljana music scene. Their political charge, activist enthusiasm, the active co-creation of the club scene and the reactions to phenomena in modern society are wrapped in the fabric of their prodigious electronic project Warrego Valles. After their 2018 breakthrough “Botox” debut, the artists released the second long-run edition “Save As” in 2019 with their hometown based independent net label Kamizdat. Playful DJs and producers are distinguished by the intense exploration of side runs of club and experimental electronic music, and an immense passion for developing self-expression. Also promoters and curators of niche electronic music events in Ljubljana such as the Grounded Festival or the dayto-day programme at Ljubljana’s notable Pritličje venue and electronic club nights with their queer collective Ustanova. Warrego Valles are active as an inexhaustible safer spaces maintenance engine, critical to misogyny, cis- and heteronormativity. Not always in this order and most likely in multiple functions at once.

Nkisi produces intense, powerful sonics influenced by ancient Kongo rhythms, rhythmic noise, our planetary electromagnetic grid, and experimental improvisation. The creative musician and visual artist is one of the co-founders of NON Worldwide. She recently launched her label INITIATION and research platform The Secret Institute, exploring the secrets and mysteries of vibrational rhythm, the ritual as a socio-political tool, invisible gestural sonics, noise tantra, and strategies of trance.

Oramics was created in 2017 as a platform to empower women, non-binary and queer people in the electronic music scene, then it evolved into an independent booking agency representing @zosia-ho-ubowska, @dogheadsurigeri, @molimonster and @isnt. We work mostly in Poland where we are from but our crew is based also in the Netherlands, Austria and France.

The vital part of our activity is to support other struggling communities and also music and artists from our region (Eastern and Central Europe) who are heavily underrepresented in the international music scene. 

We curate club nights and concerts, co-curate festivals and other events, showcasing the most interesting artists on the Polish scene. We curated stages at OSA Festival in Sopot and Sanatorium Dźwięku Festival in Sokołowsko, Tauron Music Festival in Katowice. We also run club nights at Projekt LAB club in Poznań. Artists from our roster performed at festivals such as Unsound, Tauron Nowa Muzyka, Sacrum Profanum, Rhizom, Instytut, Audioriver and played in renowned venues across Europe such as Macao, Ankali, De School or Cafe OTO.

We run a podcast series dedicated to artists from mentioned groups, artists who recorded mixes for us were i.a. Noncompliant, Nazira, La Frachieur, Violet and more. Electronic Beats said that “Oramics podcast series is quickly becoming a favourite here at Electronic Beats HQ.”

We also organize workshops, with a safe, inviting space and a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the gear and knowledge that is not readily available. We’ve organized DJing workshops (CDJ and vinyl) as well as production workshops (Ableton, drum machines, synthesizers, mobile apps for making music etc.).
