Your Periphery Is My Center is a show on @refugeworldwide curated by Oramics to support regionally underrepresented artists by amplifying the voices from the Eastern European electronic music scene and examining inequality within the industry. Each show presents a selection of music from a different country in the region of Central and Eastern Europe.

The first episode is prepared by two Oramics members, Mala Herba & @dogheadsurigeri and is dedicated to contemporary electronic and experimental music from Poland.

The show was aired on Refuge Worldwide in Berlin on the 2nd of February 2023.

The Berlin based artist Gabrielle Rose recently rose from behind-the-scenes. Her current style blends ambient, pop, trance and experimental soundscapes. Gabrielle crosses genres with her new ambient night Portals, as an organizer for the queer-friendly party series Dissident, and her label work with Terenor Records. She loves inclusivity, interesting music and dreamy energy always

In Berlin, there are so many special parties but recently my collective’s event Dissident has really become the night I look forward to the most every month. Creating a space that’s both silly and glam, full of old friends and new, with music by both friends and dream lineups thats always something different. Essential element in a track:
For me, the essential element in a track is an emotional drive. I want an element that really takes me somewhere and connects with my emotions. That’s when I feel really inspired. A vocal, a melody, a crash, glass breaking, a synth… it can come in so many different forms.

Recommendation:
Don’t wait to do the things you want. It’s better to start and learn along the way. <3

Flora Yin-Wong (@floraytw) is a multidisciplinary artist and journalist. She has mastered juxtaposition of genre and narrative building amongst unsuspecting correlation. As a sound collagist with a methodology of encapsulating remoteness, her outcomes sit between meditative audio-journaling, to danceable natural field-recording styles in club environments.

Oramics was created in 2017 as a platform to empower women, non-binary and queer people in the electronic music scene, then it evolved into an independent booking agency representing @zosia-ho-ubowska, @dogheadsurigeri, @molimonster and @isnt. We work mostly in Poland where we are from but our crew is based also in the Netherlands, Austria and France.

The vital part of our activity is to support other struggling communities and also music and artists from our region (Eastern and Central Europe) who are heavily underrepresented in the international music scene. 

We curate club nights and concerts, co-curate festivals and other events, showcasing the most interesting artists on the Polish scene. We curated stages at OSA Festival in Sopot and Sanatorium Dźwięku Festival in Sokołowsko, Tauron Music Festival in Katowice. We also run club nights at Projekt LAB club in Poznań. Artists from our roster performed at festivals such as Unsound, Tauron Nowa Muzyka, Sacrum Profanum, Rhizom, Instytut, Audioriver and played in renowned venues across Europe such as Macao, Ankali, De School or Cafe OTO.

We run a podcast series dedicated to artists from mentioned groups, artists who recorded mixes for us were i.a. Noncompliant, Nazira, La Frachieur, Violet and more. Electronic Beats said that “Oramics podcast series is quickly becoming a favourite here at Electronic Beats HQ.”

We also organize workshops, with a safe, inviting space and a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the gear and knowledge that is not readily available. We’ve organized DJing workshops (CDJ and vinyl) as well as production workshops (Ableton, drum machines, synthesizers, mobile apps for making music etc.).
