- HLZ BLZ is such a fierce brand I was very eager to do the collab when the team first bounced the idea a couple months ago. I’ve been a fan, and patron since I first discovered the line back my high school years via Houston, TX. The girls that work for HLZ know who they are. They’re stylish, hardworking and unapologetically bold. With this mix I wanted to do a million different things, and go in a million different directions; because no one genre or artist really encompasses what I think a ‘Hellz Belle’ is or feels on any give day. 

This sonic journey is a reflections of what I think it means to be the kinda gal that rocks Hellz Bellz. - Smooth and vibey, cool and sexy; but at and given second that energy can swing and things can get rowdy and turnt up. Then effortlessly float back in to a chill space before you even recognized a switch. Easy.

Give em HELLZ (Mix)

With the 'Spain in September (Mix)' l wanted to remain true to my auditory experience during the couple weeks I spent there last month. I loved that every stroll, every car ride, and every restaurant visit was soundtracked with the ease of good energy, dance and house records. 

The idea was to not pander to 'popular', (top 40 or familiar songs everyone knows and loves) but instead recreate an experience I had, & offer that to my listeners in it's rawest form.

I know my audience is a little more hip-hop and open format heavy, but I'm excited to introduce some records I found and loved, possibly exposing and expanding the pallet of those who enjoy my previous mixes. In the end you'll have a clear & accurate understanding of what Spain sounded like, to me, in September of 2015.

Spain In September (Mix)

The idea of FEELS was to take on the perspective of millennials' progressive struggle with love & commitment. In a generation of people infatuated with 'Lust over Love'; care & courting have all but dissolved - in real life, as well as music. Consequently, I think this New Age R&B / "Trap Soul" genre has emerged, using somber production, melded with drug induced, & carnally driven lyrics, to accurately reflect today's "dating world" social-sphere. 'FEELS' is meant to encompass all of that; FEELING the drugs, the bass, the hollowness of the beats, the desire, the after effects, the void, the push and pull between people that genuinely want to care for you and ones that want to use you. - Lulling you gently enough sonically, that in the moment you don't think much of the underlining message.

I used Sam Rothstein's monologue from the Intro of 'Casino' because to me, no relationship better personifies the idea of 'FEELS' than that of he & Ginger McKenna.
