Larch Mourning

A new one with the new guild electric! I recorded two different guitar parts on this. both are a combination of rhythm and lead lines. My Signal Chain is the same, except one guitar part is recorded with a bassier tone- running classic fuzz into dual OD into tremolo and delay. This is a blues kinda jam Ive been working with for awhile. It has a section where the beat breaks down in the middle and the mono synth creeps in -that I just love. To make this first I created a drum beat on my drum synth, then I made an analog synth bass line, I did all of this live while playing guitar and recording the first track. The second track is all guitar fills. A third track added here for atmospheric synth sounds.  Once again Soundcloud is compressing this file into trash but I did my best to get a clear loud version. They should really do something about the upload quality. As usual best enjoyed in stereo sound or with headphones.

some mixing and EQ was done in post but there are no overdubs

So this jam to me is like if David Gilmour sat in with the Velvet Underground. The lead guitar lines here are reverb soaked with a triple BBB Vox Delay. slow and calculated while the rhythm section has this discordant guitar rhythm and deep droning bass quality. When this is played live everything blends together into this crazy beautiful full sound...so I did my best capture that in this recording.Play this one something with a good bass response.   I have an analog synth drone bass line, which I made a beat to match and then played a chord progression over. Then I played a few lead runs over it. Clean guitar tone with delay. recorded live with 2 condenser mics. Took me a few days to hammer out the different parts of this and Im pretty happy with the results.

Drip Dry

I created this beat and ran it through an old Radio Filter, then I made a droning synth line. then I sampled Jo Stafford's Haunted Heart for the vocal line, I recorded all this live in real time.

Sky Cult

I created this beat with my drum synth. Its a rock n roll beat that I slowed down and ran through a low end boost, then I ran that through MOSFET mixer. Then I used my analog monosynth to create a rumbling bass line, that I actively tweak the the filter on while playing my guitar. 

Then I ripped some power chords using my newest old guitar which is the same exact model as my first guitar ever...a black on black/vintage yellow binding Hamer slammer double cut, which now has a hungry cartoon wolf sticker under the bridge ala Jerry Garcia so Im calling it Black Wolf. hence the title of this song...enters the Wolf. (my first recording with black wolf) I also used an angry pig 12v drive pedal and my line 6 amp on a clean setting which is a fender priceton IR. This track has 2 ripping guitar solos that flow in and out pretty smooth and the drums sound huge yet shitty at the same time like a mic'd up toy kit.  I am pretty happy. I recorded and created all of this live in the moment while improvising using 2 microphones to record. A behringer instrument microphone on my guitar amp and an electric voice condenser mic for the drums and bass. there's a bit of a freakout with my synth filter at the end of this one which some might find a bit jarring.
very little mixing and mastering on this. Just a loud, clear, tight, live recording.
