Time to highlight my winter home, Singapore. This was taken during the www.super0.sg festival while I stayed at Changi Beach Park, Singapore. Another collection of records I found whilst diggin through the many warehouses of 2nd hand record shops spread across this City State.  This country is truly beautiful for it's landscape and food. In this edition of our MIXEDBY series, we were fortunate enough to procure a selection from esteemed producer Jimmy Rouge! The name, which is synonymous with his label Orange Tree Edits, has been responsible for some of the most memorable house-edits of music from around the world - crossing the borders of countries in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.

Mr. Rouge is a little bit of a man of mystery. He's not known for doing interviews. We believe the last one he participated in was in 2017. However, Jimmy was able to put together a brief summary of his mix below where he walks us through his current situation and inspiration behind his curation. Enjoy!

"I made this mix while in lockdown in Amsterdam and County Clare in Ireland. I initially started it just as a de-stressing exercise. I was listening to a lot of Japanese new age/ambient and had also made some ambient versions of some Irish songs. One, in particular, is a spacey version of a recording of Martin Hayes playing a reel on the fiddle called ‘Ger The Rigger’. It’s from an album called ‘Live in Seattle’. I’ve added some spoken word and a recording from an Irish radio station. There’s a soundtrack record in there and even a heavily pitched down version of a song by Anúna." - Jimmy Rouge

This week we have the pleasure of presenting you a man who knows the ins and outs of the industry, a DJ, a music writer and compiler. 
 
When he’s not tearing up dancefloors at some of the worlds best party spots like London’s Fabric, he’s working away at the discovery and promotion of new music. Through his own deep house label Forensic, editing Mixmag USA, curating the After Dark spin off series of the amazing late night tale compilations, or
writing an in depth book dedicated to the profession ‘Last Night a DJ Saved My Life’ . 

Safe to say Bill’s a busy man, so we’re certainly delighted that he’s taken the time to share with us some of the many Bside gems discovered over 50 years of collecting, throughout a long and illustrious career in the music industry. 

And gems of the purist Bside variety they are: some post punk experimentation into electronic music, soul music of the highly collectible kind, charity shop magic, and a sprinkling of the deepest dance floor grooves.
