Caldera - Triangular Passage [MLF015] Snippets

Sindh is back on his own imprint and introduce the 'Komudo Series' focuses on mind and body movement. Still infused into tribalism and rituals, this first opus composed by four original tracks merges subttle darkness and evolving alien textures with strong grooves. 'Akureh' kicks off its menacing low ends and warped bass that never lets up, 'Quake' suspends you amongst fluttering snares and drawn out whistles over linear beats and 'Liquefaction then gets more gritty with dirty loops and plenty of tension before 'Swarms' shuts down with a more thumping deep techno sound.

Exploring deeper strains of club music from his home base in Helsinki, Kaspiann presents the
latest transmission on VALA alongside frequent collaborator VC-118A. Samuel van Dijk previously
adopted his deep techno guise Multicast Dynamics for a joint track with Kaspiann on VALA 1, and
now he switches stance to his celebrated VC-118A alias to bring an elegant kind of electro to this
EP. It’s a style which also informs Kaspiann’s solo work on ‘Moraalivesi’, which upholds the
producer’s patient, meditative sound palette while toying with crooked electro rhythms. It’s
‘Metsätutka’ where he locks into a driving 4/4 propulsion adorned with subtle electro-acoustic
percussion and a keen sense of space.

On the collaborative tracks with van Dijk there’s a greater sense of head-tweaking electro setting
the tone, embracing a tightly wound framework as a vessel for richly rendered soundscapes just
past the foreground machine funk activity. If ‘510’ is a subtly deep, industrially-tinged workout, ‘Sea
Of Cities’ shifts the focus slightly to toy with melodic elements more wholeheartedly, creating an
emotional kind of sonic futurism in the grand tradition of electro soul.

Following news last month of Qilla Records 35-track compilation ‘Chakravyūh‘, today we premiere the closing track produced Siamese Twins co-founder Sunju Hargun...Our pick from the compilation is ‘मूलानि‘ by Sunju Hargun. Blurring the lines between dark ambient and trance, ‘मूलानि’ features hypnotic tabla drum work interwoven with celestial chants, ultra-filtered synths and space-echoed vocals, resulting in a meditative dancefloor trip delving into the depths of contemporary psychedelia.

Shjva returns to the label less than a year after her brilliant Northern Lights EP saw the light of day.

A much revered producer across the scene,  Shjva consistently brings her deep and groovy style to a multitude of projects. Our ears first pricked up when we were recommended one of her self-released projects on Bandcamp. By the time her debut physical release dropped on Brutż in the winter of 2022, we were quick to join a line of labels hoping to push Shjva's talents.

Moving between Poland and Ukraine, Shjva's rise has occurred against the backdrop of the ongoing illegal invasion of her homeland. Nevertheless, she remains a shining example of the vibrant arts that can emerge from a free Ukraine. Her new track, "Blizzard," is no exception and we couldn't be more honoured to be trusted to share yet another example of Shjva's signature deep, pulsing sound 💙💛

With just two solitary tracks to his name at the time of writing, 19 year old Astrover, aka Ben Parkin, is a yet-unknown quantity in the vast sea of techno or techno-adjacent sounds that grace our ears and minds. Astrover, however, has already begun to show his hand, displaying a deft touch and an aptitude for textural depth that belies his young age. Originally from Manchester (UK) and now based in London, Astrover is setting out with intent, demonstrating a forceful capacity to develop his sound in line with his immediately evident potential.
