Severn Electronics unveils its second release, ‘Mimicry To Hide’, an EP by founding artist 7XINS.  Building upon the label's successful debut, this EP delves a little deeper into the sonic realms of 7XINS' mind.

 
  ‘Mimicry To Hide’ features a mesmerising collection of six tracks, four of which are carefully crafted by 7XINS, and two remixes from local legend and London-based artist, Burden.

 
  From the enigmatic allure of ‘Mantis Call’ to the hypnotic rhythms and textures of ‘Tempora’, and the intricate layers and secrets embedded within ‘The Audacity To Lie’, the EP delivers a multi-dimensional experience.  However, it’s the title track ‘Mimicry To Hide’ that embodies the sonic identity of the release.  The track offers complex reverberating textures over a vast sonic canvas allowing each element an enormous amount of space to breathe, leaving listeners with plenty of eerie undertones to contemplate. 


  Burden's remixes add a new dimension to the EP, further enriching the sonic tapestry created by 7XINS.  Burden, who needs little introduction in London, provides us with two remixes that takes ‘Tempora’ to new heights with his signature yet versatile sound.  Energised with driving basslines, shadowy atmospheres, and hypnotic leads, Burden's reinterpretation of ‘Tempora’ manifests in two distinct versions: the ‘Broken System Mix’ and the ‘Constant Data Stream Mix’.  Drawing from his relentless pursuit of sonic perfection, Burden infuses his signature blend of groove and tension into these remixes.  The ‘Broken System Mix’ takes a more intense approach with its broken rhythms playing on gritty textures that overall come to form something of a much darker and sinister tone, while the ‘Constant Data Stream Mix’ is far more flowing and forgiving, providing a somewhat fun rolling element to a still dark and atmospheric soundscape.  Both interpretations stunningly fit within the concept of the EP.

 
  In addition to its digital release, ‘Mimicry To Hide’ will also be available in the form of a limited run of cassette tapes.  These cassettes have artwork that reveals more of the inspiration behind the EP and will be offered through the label's Bandcamp store.  All cassette purchases will come with digital download so they can also be added to your digital collection.


  Severn Electronics steps further in the direction of delivering an expressive platform for artists with ‘Mimicry To Hide’ standing as testament to the label's commitment to creating an immersive sonic journey with room for imagination for its listeners.

 

  7XINS – ‘Mimicry To Hide’, including Burden's interpretations, will be available for pre-order on the 21/06/2023 and will be fully available on all major digital platforms from 05/07/2023.  The limited edition cassette tapes can be found exclusively on Severn Electronics' Bandcamp store.

On Imaginary Ark, Morphing Territories builds timeless intergalactic worlds. Alien soundscapes pull you into multidimensional spaces and across interplanetary vistas. On ‘Irregular Energy’ sub-aquatic sounds ricochet around a methodical beat. ‘Imaginary Ark’ compels you to surrender to the dance floor. Bouncing liquid reverberations surge to a climax that soars through precise percussion and undulating synths. On ‘Solar Expedition’ arid textures shuffle and shimmer around a swaying groove. Instinctive polyrhythmic elements flinch and jitter, evolving into a dance of increasingly complex motion that has you believing it’s alive. The stepped beat and pulsing panic of ‘Save Our Souls’ has the ominous air of intergalactic disturbance: restless filtered percussion skims the surface of a distorted, warping landscape until communication is lost.

Josef Gaard's 'Tzumu Chant,' our premiere for today, is one of the standouts from this phenomenal package. 'Tzumu Chant' is a tribal deep techno excursion. Its eerie atmosphere augmented with haunting pads and driven by rumbling kick drum take a listener for a journey that depicts explorations of the depths of The Cango Caves in South Africa in search of mysterious creature Tzumu.
