James Stewart story behind the edit: « I found this track during a trip in Benin. I came home with my luggage full of local records, most of them dug in Juju. I love that sound coming from Nigerian Yoruba tradition which is a contemporary version of traditional music such as ‘Were Were’ or ‘Apala’. The full album shows a classical Juju style, except that very last track coming like a cosmic pearl with its beat box and Juno pad. The original track is called ‘Sir Shina Adewale & The Superstars International-Verse 6 ( Wel-Kabed Records 1979, Nigeria) (Yoruba Juju)’.  Shina Adewale is an abbreviation for Shina Peters et Segun Adewale, two must-known artists of Nigerian Juju music. With Chylo, we made this edit in 2010 and waited for a good opportunity to publish it. »
 
James Stewart is the host, resident dj and promoter of monthly night « Black Atlantic Club » in Lyon & Grenoble, France. Borrowing the term “Black Atlantic” from renowned scholar Paul Gilroy’s 1993 book, Stewart presents “black music” as a transnational, incredibly diverse cultural exchange. An avid lecturer on the subject and founder of the Blog Afrosouldescarga, he merges an intellectual approach with the musical and creative side of things: as an active conga player and percussionist, show host at Radio Nova & LYL Radio and producer of his own music.
 
His next EP « Where are we going » will feature Ghanaian singer Ayuune Sunle, including two original tracks and two remixes by Simbad. Out on Mawimbi records in the coming months!
