Jay-Son makes a welcome return to Paisley Dark with another standout release—this time delivering a low-slung, chugging shuffle designed for the shadowy corners of intimate, late-night dance floors. Anchored by a gritty, rolling bassline, warped acid motifs, and razor-sharp distorted stabs, the track pulses with raw underground energy. Layered with evocative, documentary-style vocal samples, it builds a dark and sweaty atmosphere that transports listeners straight into the heart of a packed, dimly lit club.

Adding further depth to the release is a carefully curated collection of remixes. Each reimagining takes the original in a bold new direction, offering fresh textures and interpretations while maintaining the intensity of Jay-Son's vision. Together, they form a diverse and dynamic EP that showcases both the strength of the original and the creative versatility of the remixers involved.

In his own words, The song “Otdavali Molodu” (“They Gave the Young Bride Away”) is one of the first and most striking hits by the Soviet VIA (Vocal-Instrumental Ensemble) “Ariel,” arranged by Valery Yarushin based on a traditional Russian folk tune. The foundation of the piece is a traditional folk melody, but Yarushin infused it with rock intonations, which gave the ensemble its distinctive and recognizable style. Thanks to this song, Yarushin earned the respect of rock musicians, folk enthusiasts, and even academic audiences.

Why is the song important?

It’s a perfect example of the synthesis between folk motifs and modern musical forms: folklore + rock, an unconventional genre for a VIA. The song captures the spirit of its time, the 1970s, the heyday of Soviet folk rock and a period of musical boldness.

Thanks to this track, “Ariel” transcended the borders of Chelyabinsk and even the USSR, becoming recognized both across Eastern Europe and within the Soviet Union.

“Otdavali Molodu” is not just a hit by “Ariel” — it’s a symbol of an entire era: the beginning of the ensemble’s musical evolution, a successful example of folk-rock fusion, and a song that truly influenced listeners and the development of the Soviet music scene.

"Poolside Pearlers" includes six sun-spun productions best served poolside. Proto Exotica’s maiden compilation dips into shimmery jazz, acid-tinged breaks, low-slung downtempo, and the sweet spot between Balearic and ambient.

Each track is an asynchronous contribution from friends across the Asia-Pacific region: Mori Ra, Sonder Plains, Tucan Discos, Bongomann, Max Hammur, and Gold Suite. By taking away the barriers of location and time, self-paced collaboration let each sound breathe in, breathe out and find its natural place.  

All Bandcamp and record sale profits will be shared equally among the artists.

"Ah si si" is a blend of EBM and italo disco, where taut grooves flirt with a bittersweet melancholy tinged with 80s hues. At once an invitation to dance and an introspective dive, the track plays with contrasts — between rhythmic tension and nostalgia.

The voice, sensual and slightly enigmatic, acts as a guiding thread: it ties the influences together, blurs the lines, and gives the whole piece a cohesion that makes it effortlessly ready for the dancefloor.
The italo disco elements are a deliberate nod to Camilliani’s Italian roots and his deep attachment to that musical culture.


Camilliani is no newcomer. In 2007, he made his debut with Pervert Teen, an electro EP released under the name Chairs on Backs, a duo with Yan Wagner on the Missive label. Two years later, he went solo with Fucking Day, a more radical techno EP under the alias Swaan, on Estrella Rec.

After a long hiatus, he returns under a new identity, Camilliani, and unveils Ah si si, his third project.
