BEST OF ITALO MODERNI 2021  OUT NOW

Rising (and shining) Vilnius-based label Electric Shapes kicks off the new year with the 3rd volume of its respected “Unreleased Territory” series. The compilation, as always, features some house favourites, such as Jokios Kultūros, Tassilo Vanhöfen, Kolomensky, Adventure Society, Rambal Cochet, and Tadan, plus new additions to its already vast and eclectic roster: Martin Kuška, Vague Imaginaires, Valma, Krokakai, Mars Man Mutant, ID_UA (SXDNS229), ALF CHAMPION & MDHNTR, Haunted Strasse, and ROTCIV (SXDNS069), to name a few, who brought their personal sonorities to the fatty hotchpotch of textures the VA delivers.  

The track we chose to premiere, “Function Of Motion”, is the fruit of the creativity and craftiness of Gedas Mekšriūnas aka Adventure Society. The skilled Lithuanian producer, who is also 50% of the duo FAR EAST FLIGHT along with his fellow countryman Jokios Kultūros, evoked his breakbeat influences and properly combined them with a juicy bassline, melodic synth layers, frenetic arpeggio coats, and groovy percussive elements with the sole goal of triggering chaos – on the dance floor – with his beefy contribution to the release.

The material was collected with the assistance of the DUBFUSION (community) label. In this collaboration, we want to show the current range of independent electronic music of the city and its representatives.

‘’Thousand Springs’’ is a warm-hearted EP from Munich producer San Quentin featuring 3 tracks outfitted for vibrant summer gatherings including a remix from psychedelic Trance extraordinaire Anatolian Weapons. In his latest transmissions San Quentin summons utopian skies and tripped sunsets with his tracks “Milfontes” and the more punchy “Der Grottenolm”. “Milfontes” features flanged out cosmic breaks, bubbly Arp sequences, and heartfelt fluttering pads. It’s packed with emotion and oozes optimism and positivity. “Der Grottenolm” first gives off dusty old Roland sounds with its 909 and 707 drums and a dark saw bass line later contrasting with a joyful organ straight from early-proghouse heaven. Finally, Anatolian Weapons Remix of “Milfontes” transitions the vibe from sunset to a endless Delphic night as he takes you on a 10-minute enigmatic journey.

Something very special here with Slow Motion’s 48th release.

Recorded while experimenting with gear at CIMM studios (Venice Biennale’s centre for computer music which Bottin co-designed in 2019), EYE-BM is a joint release between two of our heaviest hitters: hairy Fabrizio Mammarella and baldie Bottin.

EYE-BM is three tracks of sinister music, sweaty electro with tinges of cyberpunky EBM and New Beat. The icing on the cake is the euphoric remix from Italian synth wave pioneer Alexander Robotnick.
The acidic and jacking flavour might as well be the sound of your mind and body losing it on the dancefloor or missing your stop on the ass-bahn. Turn the dial up to 11. Or 12.

"Endless Sunday" results from the collaboration of Nomenklatür and vocalist ODGE, which follows their acclaimed EP "When the Winds Blows", released on Clivage Music in October 2022.
The track embarks us on a journey from Monday to the Endless Sunday, a story told by ODGE and paced by the beats and basslines that the French duo Nomenklatür are known for.

The EP "Endless Sunday" also features the dark electro tune "Explain to Me", a track as enigmatic as the blend of EBM, techno and electro-pop that the 2005-established duo Nomenklatür are able to produce.

Remixes by Krasnodar-based artist Volta Cab, aka Rambal Cochet complete the 4-track EP, out on the 18th of November.

Number five of Funnuvojere’s catalogue comes directly from the depth of the Bari (Italy) province. It is written and produced by Francesco Strippoli aka Armonics and follows his first mini LP on Slow Motion Records, Nuovi Orizzonti.

Starlight Keeper smells of night time at the beach, fishing in the dark, under a sky of stars. The title track is a dancefloor pleaser reminiscent of early 90s Dream House that soars on a synthy melody, pierced with an acid line. Twenty-Two is an arpeggiated iteration of Italo Disco: hallucinogenic, suspensive, vibrating with melancholic strings. The drums of Living Waves support buoyant sonic layering while the Chicago inspired Portal projects the listener to that moment when night yields to the light again.

Cabezas’ new EP “Raya” is a distillation of the conversations that have shaped him over the last decade. From the Danceteria-ready sheen of “Madonna” to the nocturnal-italo pulse of “Sergio”, Cabezas covers a wide swath of sonic ground, starting in almost-familiar places and spiraling out into the unknown.
This is Cabezas’ second EP, following up his 2018 Börft Records release "Mi Calle". 
Born in Chile and living in Sweden, Patricio Cabezas is a multi-talented musician/producer. After years as a touring bass player, he recommitted himself to electronic music, trading his pickups for a circuit board in search of the boundaries of sound.
Since childhood Cabezas has thrown himself into the in-between. With a life of hybrid timezones, cultures and identities, his approach to music is similarly liminal. Driven by discovery and experimentation, Cabezas hybridizes genres, themes and instrumenta- tion to create electronic music that lives on the edge, built for the mains, headphones and everywhere in between.
