It's been more than a year since we introduce Florin Büchel at MM Discos, we find fascinating the way the Swiss producer squeezes his analogue machines in order to create amazing landscapes that can easily vary from downtempo to darker territories.

Florin Büchel lands in "Saturn" and for the occasion we've rescued this old material that has been stored for many years, 3 (almost forgotten) tracks produced back in 2010 where Zurich's best kept secret propose a synthetic-intergalactic-journey. Pure underground quality for your ears where vocoders, analog synths and drum boxes play around in order to build a time capsule that travels straight to the 80's subculture.

Another MM Saturn's chapter that keeps exploring the borders of the galaxy, captain Büchel at the controls of the spacecraft on our endless journey towards new horizons.

The debut release from hot new Glasgow label
Curriculum Vital comes from none other than its founder Vital Spark.

Written and recorded during the cold harsh Scottish winter, Diskoteket is the antithesis of the long dark nights, exuding positive vibes and playfulness. 
On the A-side, the EP's title track Diskoteket pays homage to our neighbours across the North Sea, whilst the A2 Leijonat looks even further east, an imagined anthem to its namesake.

The B-side opens up with Stone Of Destiny, a Eurodance channelling banger dedicated to a certain watering hole in Glasgow's West End. Those who know, know... Finally the record finishes with Pace Yourself, a straight up peak time club cut with a gentle reminder to take it easy once in a while.

With Diskoteket, Vital Spark provides a modern take on the classic sounds of genres like Italo Disco and Eurodance - big synths, liberal use of arpeggiators and just the right amount of
nostalgia.

Lazily, the tide rolls back in, caressing the shore in a single, sonorous manoeuvre. Leeds-based house producer Lone Saxon drops anchor for the first Balearic Ensemble outing of 2023, bringing shipmates Running Hot, Orchid and DJ Phidas along for some extra sea-salt remix action. Get it on…
‘Raised By The Island’ is a deeply expressive ode to the rhythms of flora & fauna, underpinned by Lone Saxon’s unique spin on the balearic beat. A medley of imaginative melodies and percussive flourishes, skilfully padded with rousing vocal samples and bass pulled from deep down low. This is certified balearic hardware; we’re loving it, you will too.
Next up Running Hot steps things up a notch, kicking and convulsing into harder territories with a massive balearic breakbeat remix wrapped around a 90s prog vocal sample. His remix goes hard on percussion, pads and carbonated b-lines, reconceiving Lone Saxon’s island anthem into late night, hands-in-the-air tackle. HUGE summer tip (viva the balearic breakbeat)!
Next up is Moscow’s edit king Orchid, who delivers an inside-out rework where acid bass snakes through the gaps left between jaunty pad stabs and spirited snare cadences. It’s a letter from a faraway place, with tales of strange beasts and creatures; a place of endless summer from where you won’t want to leave.
Finally, Klasse Wreck’s DJ Phidas takes the helm, rounding off the EP with a suave, percussion-based reimagining of Lone Saxon’s balearic sensation. The Barcelona-via-Venezuela producer’s version chugs along, eclectic and unhurried, armed with space controller gurgles, polyrhythms and pitch-stretched drum samples for a carefully constructed dancefloor warm-up. Class action by Phidias to round off what might be our favourite package yet.
