Watching the boats on the Seine 
Drinking Parisian coffee 
Passing the time away 

As I took another sip I felt a doubt 
It took a couple more to work it out 
Despite the fine cafe

Drop It

Oren writes original songs and jazz instrumentals and performs regularly at jazz venues in the DC area. His compositions have been recorded by Carolyn Malachi, Aaron Myers, Lionel Lyles, Donna Singer, and Jason Mendelson’s MetroSongs project. Oren is a long-standing member of the house band at the weekly DC Jazz Jam and performs with The Lucky So & So’s, a latin jazz/funk band.

Oren’s 2018 debut album “Making Up For Lost Time” features eleven of his original songs, performed by an all-star group of musicians from the DC region. The title track won a Finalist award in the 2019 Mid-Atlantic Song Contest, and the album received three Washington Area Music Award (Wammie) nominations in 2019.

Oren released two new songs in 2020. “Don’t Sleep On Me” features Aaron Myers singing this swinging message of encouragement to musicians and other creatives. “Ain’t It The Truth” features Carolyn Malachi singing a call for action against false news and information overload.

Aaron and Oren previously collaborated on “Stand Right“, featured on NPR and in the Washington Post.
