This album was reallly emotional for me when I made it. I was 18 in New Orleans, a new city for school and I had just left home and I had a girlfriend at the time that I had to say goodbye to, and I was really sad and alone. So Sad Tiger is the result. It has hope and everything, and it's gotten me through hard times when I was down, and I hope it does the same for other people too. Some songs like "On a Beach" and "I Want to Be" I made a lot earlier back in high school even. I basically recorded the whole thing the summer of 2015 with a portable recorder I have, and then over the next two years filled out the other parts. There are some great collaborations with friends from all over the country. Jeremy Kern recorded the saxophone and flute on "Individuality" in a stairwell in New Orleans, Gitai recorded the bass in that song in Boston, and I recorded the piano in my living room in Van Nuys. I've lived with these songs for a while and it's weird to let them go and say goodbye, but I'm just going to do it and live with that uncertainty.
