Whomp head-honcho ANNX joins us for the latest edition of the Fuaim series with a club-ready blend of psy-tinged rhythms and prog rollers. 

Anna has gone from strength to strength in recent years, appearing on lineups with the likes of Above Below festival, Gloria @ Macadam, and many many more. Her sound is refined beyond her years, showcasing sounds of stripped back progressive and psytrance proving her relentless skills as a digger.

Her talents as a promoter are no less. Co-running the Whomp party with Lora Mipsum, and more recently perspectives.ldn, she has become a staple for psychedelic music on London's club circuit.

A lil' Sunday listening could never be complete without the wonders of psytrance. After recently finding their synergy, Prague based Marie Pravda and Kobayashi Maru have joined together on numerous joyful occasions. Spinning and spiralling rhythms have been the by-product as this duo  continue to step into the booth. This specific recordings comes not so live (but very direct) from this past years Amphibian x Nite Vibes party, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do :')

When Marie Pravda settles into a DJ booth she’s there to spark some chemistry with those willing to embrace it. While she is perfectly capable of generating similar energy into her recordings for the online world, it’s the endless push & pull with the physical crowd that charges her selection and mixing. 

Developing into an avid digger during long shifts in gloomy basements and online, the Prague-based DJ and DIY promoter took the Czech scene by storm with her savage take on a growing range of club music – be it with selections from her trippy or dance folders. In 2020 she joined the resident collective of Ankali & Planeta Za where she runs her regular Planeta Pravda club series.

Kobayashi Maru is a Prague-based DJ, producer and resident of the Amphibian label. You could catch him spinning decks at venues such as Planeta Za, Vitamin61500, F2 Salo and Bike Jesus. His sets are influenced by heavy bass sound, dubstep, breaks, global percussion rhythms and psychedelic structures. Kobayashi Maru is a Prague-based DJ, producer and resident of the Amphibian label. You could catch him spinning decks at venues such as Planeta Za, Vitamin61500, F2 Salo and Bike Jesus. Hit play and zone out to these two hours of deep yet uplifting techno and trance, delivered by two true legends of Copenhagen underground electronic community. Although these two shined of their own light last time they played  individually on RP, this time they really outdid themselves. Thank you for the treasured moments and the hip pain friends <3

Kia is an acclaimed Australian DJ & founder of the Animalia & Cirrus labels. A highly skilled selector and open-eared music digger, who is ever searching tirelessly for lost obscurities and hidden gems. On the dancefloor her sound spans bass heavy rhythms, IDM and the deeper shades of techno.

About the mix Kia said: “This mix is a big amalgamation of sets and moods I've been playing recently on my travels in Mexico, Colombia, the US & Canada, and some shades and new styles influenced by my time in Latin America & Detroit specifically. Like a travel diary in a mix :) ”

At Monument Festival 2022 Kia gifted us with the perfect afternoon set, laying down three hours of tightly woven hypnotic grooves. This year she will be closing out Friday night playing b2b with Polygonia. Not to be missed.

MNMT 422 : Kia

Next up in our mix series is Loek Frey, out of Amsterdam, an artist operating from an elusive abyss. Immune to external constraints, the OQAD label head is paving the way for a newfound sound within contemporary electronic music. While performing either as DJ or live, during peak time or sit down - Loek never fails to channel his liminal space of frequencies, resulting in appearances at places such as De School, Ankali, and Tresor. His productional oeuvre covers infinite tempos, lengths, and moods, which he manifests through his OQAD imprint and releases on labels such as Omen Wapta.

In this mix, Loek takes on a mind tickling trip both for the mind and body. Whether it’s IDM, techno, drum-and-bass, or breakbeat, Loek manages to fuse an unmatched sonic spectrum into a distinctive aesthetic at the collision point of the organic and mechanic, with a sound design through a razor-sharp minimalistic scope.

Ute Mix Series #91 | Loek Frey

Andy Martin (@andy-martin) is one of my favourite musical discoveries from the last few years. A while back, after hearing an iconic tune he made called "Revolution" featuring Lee Scratch Perry, I was excited about his music, and also learning more about him as an artist. Andy is based in Guadalajara, Mexico, with Jamaican and Mexican roots.

Whilst I was touring Mexico, we shared a few gigs together, and all the locals referred to him as "the best in the country", which I can completely understand. Since discovering Andy's music I've been hooked on his productions, an incredible fuse of old school and new school dub techno, underpinned by influences from his heritage which flourish in the form of exciting percussion & unique, emotional melodies. 

On top of this, Andy is very humble, and  a very talented DJ, and I'm super happy to host him in the series.

Animix One Hundred & Sixty Two: Andy Martin

The time has come to start reminiscing about the musical moments of Refractor 2024. 

At 2 pm, @servei delighted us with a set of trance, progressive trance, and house at around 130 BPM, where he made the perfect mix between new and old tunes. Also he took the opportunity to play tracks from the EP he just released on Organic Signs' label a few weeks ago.
