I wrote this song in 45 minutes. Then I worked on the mix for 30 minutes and this is the result! Having fun on a Saturday.

Santana - Organized Sound

Our 4th song on Organized Sound's first album.

CIRCLES

I wrote this song initially for the reggae band I was in at the time called Rising Rezistance. I decided that I liked the progression so much that it would be cool to do a double time hip hop feel that could blend in from the reggae section. I kept some of the traditional elements of reggae with the bubble and the one drop. The bubble is an organ pattern and the one drop is a rhythm on the drums with the accent on three. I continued to add to the track with a clavichord, a violin section, and a two trumpets. The hip hop section has a ton of simple keyboard patches that are layered many times to fatten the sound. The transition into this section has certain elements of the hip hop section play over the reggae and then as the bass and drums fade in, the reggae bass and drums fade out. The feel of this song is laid back and transition into a full-blown assault. The lyrical theme is about a guy who expresses the modest things he notices about a love interest. The second verse uses nature and the senses to illustrate the minor things that you take away when you are observing or conversing to a person. The theme of revolutionary mind is maintaining an aggressive mind state while trying to create a path for change. 

LITTLE THINGS

Every time I sat down at a piano, my fingers were drawn to playing this 4 bar groove.  A friend and I had also been experimenting on the vibraphone at the time, and suddenly things started clicking.  Next thing I know, I had the framework of this track.  It starts with a vibraphone followed by an ornamented bass line.  The melody is almost completely based off of chord tones, but they are syncopated in a manner that makes it less apparent.  The change of feeling in the second section of the songis based on an afro-cuban montuno groove, which another idea that goes along with our genre fusion.  There is a muted trumpet solo on this afro-cuban section that I played on the keyboard.  The lyrical theme is about coming of age, and learning from experience.   This is the writer’s personal story of growing up in Atlanta.  The singing line was inspired by the popular military cadences sung by soldiers while marching.    

Where I'm From 2012 Remastered

I remixed and mastered another one of our most popular songs on our first album. This song means a lot to our group. It is very organic and has a wonderful message. I wrote it in about three hours and sent it to my rapper/lyricist and he sent it back in a few hours completely finished!

I May Not Be The Best

The first track on our first album! I am so proud of the way this song turned out. Its not very often when you hear a song thats 75% music and only 25% lyrics and it works out this good!

For The Love-16bit

We are working on a full album for Organized Sound and I am thinking about using this piano piece that I wrote for the outro. My wife told me to try writing a song based off of the melody. So this is the outcome of that project.

Outro Possibility

When I get frustrated, I write music and I feel better. This is a song that I wrote at 5 AM in the morning before work. Let me know what you think.

Reach in Mono 01

Organized Sound Music began in Boise, Idaho when two Christian musicians with the same goal of making good music found encouragement from the similarities they both shared in musical taste, despite their difference in musical background.  After many discussions, Blake and David determined that a large gap existed between the market of mainstream pop music listeners, and the more cerebral, refined listeners’ market of jazz and classical.  They found a vast difference in style, structure, and lyrical content when comparing these markets.  Further, there had to be several niche markets existing between this gap that were not getting their musical needs met.  They concluded that although people have different tastes and preferences when it comes to music, in the end, good music is good music no matter what it is labeled.  This inspired the start of OS with the goal of blending together song elements from both worlds, while providing a relevant message.
