Following on from a series of successful releases on labels such as 47, Voitax and Instruments of Disci-pline, Swarm Intelligence takes the next step in his journey with the launch of his own self-titled imprint. Aimed solely at releasing his own material, this label gives the intrepid sonic explorer full control of his artistic vision. 

Thematically, the label inhabits a dystopian world of rapidly advancing technology and the subsequent negative impact on society – topics such as autonomous weaponry, invasive surveillance and sentient AI all feature heavily in the artist’s imagination, expressed through fierce rhythms, brutal synthesis and sound degradation. The first EP brilliantly showcases this sound and pushes Swarm Intelligence into ever evolving uncharted waters of crushing techno, industrial and beyond.

The Dreamer Is Aware Of Dreaming is the first episode of a series of four which explores the boundaries of sleep; the first one is about the phenomenon of lucid dreaming. Sleep is a physiological necessity, a periodic phenomenon of rest of the psychophysical functions, characterized by the suspension of the state of consciousness and will, during which the organism recovers energy, eliminates toxins and strengthens cognitive functions.

A lucid dream is a type of dream in which «The Dreamer Is Aware Of Dreaming». During a lucid dream, the dreamer may gain the ability to move within it, exploring and taking control over the dream characters, narrative or environment. Although, when you are lucid dreaming, you are in a fake reality.

The compilation features 20 tracks from a fresh generation of electronic music artists blending different styles to create a unique vision that finds its climax in the dream.

OBSCUUR is proud to welcome back the excellent Liza Aikin, after her stellar contribution to the “Withered Tales” album. Liza returns with her own release, a take on industrial techno named “Infirm Past”.

Her signature brand of techno spans over two original tracks, a force of sound cemented by how well it blends with the remix efforts of Swarm Intelligence and VSK. This is an EP covering all grounds, from immersive techno to harder-edge dance floor percussion.

First up is “Hospital Bed”, club ready and on the harder end of the scale, it delivers increasingly frustrating emotions through percussion packed with field recordings literally from the mechanisms within hospital machines. Swarm Intelligence adds the remix favour, with a growling bassline and broken techno cuts.

“Enclave” follows up, with a sophisticated palette of layered pounding rhythms. Glued together with a hypnotically morphing melody, VSK steps up to the plate for the remix, plastering his well-known sound all over and slowing the drums to achieve a pure meditative hallucination.

Liza Aikin consistently strives to push her sound in new directions, the known mixing with the unknown, making this EP a rewarding listening experience both at the club and at home.
