Night Cycle w/ Ambientologist - March 2023

We have a serious treat for you, the perfect mix for a Sunday afternoon. The mix has been crafted by the head of the incredible AGT Records, Professor Roth. 

The mix is a live recording from his project with Community Sauna Baths, Sonic Sauna. The mix has been split into two. The first half is a hazy mix of ambient and folk; we will be posting the next half will be posted next week.

The first relese to kick off Clubwerks, Origami Sound's imprint dedicated to distinctive, genre-free club material is by a 19 year old French prodigy who grew up in Manchester and is currently studying Jazz Performance at the prestigious Julliard University in NYC - JAONA, one of the most exciting producers to join our crew of hugely gifted new talent. 

The difference between average producers and great ones consists in knowing how to arrange melodic and rhythmic stimuli in extraordinary ways; our boy JAONA is a champion at conjuring the most refined sensorial scenery inside each of his tracks and have fun with it too. All the music on this EP is entirely stand-alone, furiously creative and catchy in the most subtle ways. 

This mini-album should be more than enough to get an idea of what Clubwerks is about.

Gonzalo Villarreal is back for his 3rd appearance on the Mood Series. After his previous two EP's, we couldn't be happier to hear what he's been up to and get some new output from him. 'Trascendalia' offers 4 pieces of strong techno that ebb and flow while perfectly balance catchy, addictive yet distinctive and dancefloor directed. 'Dhammacor Ascendance' is a techy dub gem. The broken almost electro beat really shines inside these chords that ride and build. 'Synaptic Alchemy (V1)' unique chord work is something to behold. If you are after dub techno that rises but also changes directions, then check out this piece. V2 of this track offers a bit more streamlined version while still really honing in on the hook of the track. Either way, both version are epic! 'Zenithian Awakening' is a wonderful way to close this EP out. A beautiful and soothing ride, this is a fine example of the future of the genre through Gonzalo's eye. To close these masterful pieces with this amazing ending really ties the EP for long replays and plenty of listening time. One thing Greyscale looks for pushing the boundaries is a different color and timber to the evolution of the style. This isn't your ordinary dub techno. Check this out! The fifth release showcases parisian duo Neon, a collaboration between Adam and Olson. The pair has been producing high energy club-oriented music for the past 7 years and now they're kicking off their new alias with a newly-found stripped down, groove focused sound.

Gomorra is from Switzerland, he's been running his own night in Basel and, alongside Dersu, he's released an EP on the mother label earlier this year. 

After a short break to catch our collective breath, FORZA is back with its 8th offering by Gomorra, alongside the raw excitement that comes from being able to find and release music such as this. The FORZA sound has taken many forms in the techno realm in its short past and now, once again, it's morhping into a completely new ambiguous creature through Gomorra's brilliant EP. 

This is a more temperate, more melodic yet constantly throbbing and pulsating type of techno. All 4 tracks here are just as good on the inside as they are on the outside. Lost Inside, which is the title of the last track on the EP, might actually be the best way to describe this release.
