Kicking of proceedings, “Favela” catches you with rich instrumented and funky 70ties Brazil vibes bringing back memories of the seminal City of Gold soundtrack. A swinging breakbeat, Brazilian vox- and trumpet-snips lead the way to a gritty drop into a positive tinged contemporary Drum and Bass killer with smart drum fill ins, FXs, a rolling bassline and subtle organ sounds. Wait for the second drop with even more uplifting percussions straight outta Rocinho taking you on a feel-good journey we are all in need of. 

“Orgone” is a hypnotic sure shot rewind candite appealing to the steppers crew. A catchy and dope flute theme sits on top of sharp and skippy beats driven by throbbing sub-basses. The precise modulations of the JumpUp melodies will bring a wry smile and skank to even the moodiest of dances.

Don’t miss “Super Badman” if you’re looking for a tune sure to wallop any speakers into shape. Old school strings and piano chords peel out of the Hardcore Continuum to meet MC and Ragga samples and euphoric female vocal patches on a rinsing track with deep respect for soundsystem culture and the rave community. A wicked drop, fizzy bass work and beefy beats ensure that you have another damager in your hands. 

Ever the messenger for optimism and hopefulness, Bassface Sascha beautifully molded “Togetherness” is statement for our way of living. A sparse and clever pushing riddim and a really cool booming b-line in a diversified arrangement full of nice fills and modulations leave room for Jedi-wordsmith MC Fraser’s inspirational lyricism reminding that we all share the same dream, miss the same places and that “togetherness is the aim”. Furthermore, “Togetherness” is a stand-out piece which gives you a meditative and uplifting feeling simultaneously. 

One thing that makes Drum and Bass and Jungle so great is the number of different styles and sub-genres, which becomes evident on this EP. Review:

OKey's Original Key imprint continues to deliver fresh produce as they invite Tokyoite-in-Berlin Tomoyoshi for two classically informed rollers. "Killa Soundboy" rattles and pops with a Clipz style harmonic riff and the development of big two-tone horn riffs but it's "Old Radio" that will be the pick for many thanks to its stripped back "Night Flight" style groove. With wobbling subs, dubbed out instrumental textures and all-round ageless groove, this one is not to be slept on!
