German Drum and Bass icon Bassface Sascha is back on Original Key with pure junglistic flava teaming up with MC Spyda aka Black Tarantula for an amalgamation of old-school and hardcore influences combined with state-of-the-art tear out sound that will bounce crowds and love-fuelled ravers for sure!

A helicopter break lays down the foundations for “One Time” winding up with a call to action through snips of whistles, a “one time for the foghorns”-MC-sample, rave chords and Spyda’s distinctive vocals. The breakdown leads to an unexpected drop into dope and classy Jump Up with a pushing marimba melody, crisp rolling drums, hypnotizing pads, subtle Jungle beat fill-ins and wide swathes of bass. Spyda’s vocal take centre stage, threading lyrics of positivity and togetherness in times of isolation. “In your yard but you feel like a hostage” – a message tune to a lot of Drum and Bass headz all over the world. Music like this brings us together again!

Rounding out the release, “So Much Better With You” stays with the topic of the feeling that we belong together. High-pitched vocals forward over to a huge rave piano driven break which drops into a percussive Jungle riddim with a hoovering bassline. You will find enough feel-good melodies, Daft Punk- and early UK Hardcore references on this one to make you smile and dance.

MC Spyda is a legend on his own right and is respected globally for his unique vocal technique and recognizable Reggae influenced style of MCing. The fierce French Jungle tag team of Veak and Zudakabass transport you to a warehouse rave in the summer of love with their contemporary, dark and heavy fusion of futuristic sonics and unmatchable Hardcore Jungle vibes on the outstanding “Original Sound EP”. Time to get grimey!

Kicking things off is “Come Again”, opening with a countdown to lift-off, Reggae vocal-snips and seriously rolling drums that provide foundation for hoovering Dread-basslines on a mental and driving stepper that no one can resist. Refuel the time machine and set it back to the No U-Turn days with “Different Thing” with its old-school rave sounds and mangling bass contrasted by hypnotic chords and encased by a skippy Drum and Bass beatwork with amen-fill-ins. The title track “Original Sound” is a ruthless ripper drenched in ravey clonks reminding of Digital and Spirit. Deep oscillating subs, an innovative riddim, off-beat stabs and a suspensive atmosphere underlaid by dubby sound system vocals, chimes and FXs provide additional firepower on this heavy bass mangler. Last up, “Surrender” delivers a clap driven and bassface-inducing wobbler which pulls up the bassline melody into the higher octaves and surrounds it with acid-squelches, rewound chords and Jungle sprinkles.
