As convener of the Robert Burns World Federations Schools Festival (North East Section), Helena has helped preserve and develop Scottish poetry in schools for nearly 20 years.

She has also raised more than £500,000 for a variety of charities, and organises a yearly competition for young people to win major awards in poetry, performance and song.

One of the driving forces behind the Phoenix Theatre in Aberdeen, Liz Milne spent years teaching young people how to be more confident both on and off the stage and how to work in groups.

With business partner Clare Haggart, she has given hundreds of thousands of hours to helping young people across the North-east, and works with a number of charities.

Jenny Gow founded A Bear Named Buttony to help raise awareness of bowel and bladder conditions, and gives a teddy bear to every child in the country who needs to undergo surgery for those issues; so far, more than 1,700 have been donated.

She has raised funds for charities across the region for nearly 20 years - and efforts include running eight separate Ballater Balls, running the New York Marathon, and helping the ARCHIE Foundation in its early years.

In our first in-studio interview from Marischal Square, Original 106 spoke with Wray Thomson, who set up a facebook page to help support local men speak out about their mental health.

At the same time, we discuss new figures which show the suicide rate in Scotland has risen by 15% in the last year, the reasons for that increase and what can be done to stop it.

Offshore Europe comes back to Aberdeen next month and, for the first time, will be in a new home at P&J Live.

Its new exhibition director Simon Marshall sat down with Original 106's reporter Mike Taylor to talk about his appointment, the move, key focuses of the upcoming conference, and the difference in attitude compared to the last Offshore Europe in 2017.
