Originally commissioned as incidental cues for a short film by Helsinki based designer Paola Suhonen, Intiaani Kesä (Indian Summer) by multi-instrumentalist Jane Weaver has since grown into a fully formed project lending itself to a number of further cinematic productions and creative applications . Appearing alongside Demdike Stare and Brigitte Fontaine in the vampire film Kiss Of The Damned by Xan (daughter of John) Cassevetes and recut and performed as an alternative rescore to Eiichi Yamamoto's Belladonna Of Sadness for various live performances, this set of well-crafted themes takes it's brazen influences of Nicolai, Dell'Orso, Alessandroni and Daniella Casa back to their purest analog recording origins with startling effect. Recorded in an old vicarage near the Peak District, housing a unique analogue experimental studio, Intiaani Kesä hears Weaver deploy a wide range of instruments including tubular bells, bowed guitars, vintage Goblinised Roland string synths, detuned pianos, church bells, Roland guitar synths, harpsichords and ex-Radiophonic Workshop custom equipment as accompaniment to wordless and onomatopoeic chorale vocals recorded on valve microphones with space echo, sonic room reverbs and bespoke experimental tape delays. Made in a disciplined and unforgiving environment without modern technological shortcuts these self-initiated creative research prototypes were not initially intended for commercial release but are thankfully gathered here as songs in there own right independent of context.

Like all good parables Jane Weaver's sixth solo album, a concept album called The Silver Globe, is as multifaceted as it is beguiling.  Part coming of age/part cautionary tale and part romantic peon, this twelve track synth ridden post-apoc prog-pop opus is based on tightly embroidered, non-linear recurring themes and inspired by esoteric stories, cosmic imagery and re-filtered past experiences. Written from the optimistic vantage of a long-standing female independent artist, in an desperately evolving industry, Jane's latest set of self penned pop abstractions combine mechanical rock/recycled European cinema/empyrean vocalisations and an arsenal of rescued vintage synths to create a futurist narrative backdrop of a allegorical post apocalyptic landscape.

Assembled from disparate studio sessions recorded sporadically since the release of the critically acclaimed Fallen By Watchbird LP, The Silver Globe explores new collaborative relationships featuring  tracks co-produced by David Holmes, guest appearances by Australian vintage space rockers Cybotron, a recycled chunk of an 80s Hawkwind track, an intricate Damon Gough guitar solo, some Suzanne Ciani waves and post production/remix flourishes by Andy Votel. Enjoying her most fertile period to date Jane's reactions to the music of Italian synth starrs Daniela Casa and Doris Norton with local DIY artists like Una Baine's The Fates (released on her own Bird imprint) provide yet another launch pad for Jane's latest musical trajectories.
 
Paying homage in title to the troublesome Andrzej "Possession" Zulawski film of the same title, and combining influences from a wide range of lost-pop and cinematic obscurities Jane's new album uses the motif of a distant mythical impenetrable silver planet which eventually reveals itself to be a simple reflection of the beholders own souls.  Loosely metaphorical in its content The Silver Globe witnesses Jane's commitment to self-pressed conceptual pop music reach its next logical progression without compromising her natural skills as a talented melodic songwriter preserving pop vaudeville over prepacked vacuity.

The Lost Tapes is a 3 CD set of unreleased tracks, they are an opportunity to hear unreleased material, brand new tracks as if you were there, from the halcyon days, not outtakes.

The tracks cover the period from 1968 through to 1977 and were compiled by Irmin Schmidt and Daniel Miller.
The album features studio material recorded at Schloss Nörvenich and Can Studio, Weilerswist with the Can line up of Holger Czukay on bass, Michael Karoli on guitars, Jaki Liebezeit on drums and Irmin Schmidt on keyboards, and on most tracks, vocals from Malcolm Mooney or Damo Suzuki.

Irmin Schmidt explains "Obviously the tapes weren't really lost, but were left in the cupboards of the studio archives for so long everybody just forgot about them. Everybody except Hildegard, who watches over Can and its work like the dragon over the gold of the Nibelungen and doesn't allow forgetting."
