Having performed two shows together in East London recently, Young Lord and Young Skeppy unite for the North Londoner's 'That's Not Me' follow-up, 'It Ain't Safe'. Channeling N.W.A circa 88, Young Lord takes care of the hook while Joseph Junior Adenuga experiments with yet another flow as he expounds on street life. This all-vinyl 90's (hard and linear) techno-trance set was 20 years ago this week, my dad had died 3 days before this party, and all I wanted to do was mix well for my peers and friends. I was mixing my ass off, riding mixes for a long time... and maybe only 1 year into beat matching with relative ease. This party was at buddy Gavin's place in New Salem, MA to celebrate the 1st anniversary of Growroom Records... where it all started for me.
