It's timely that as Ornate Music reaches its milestone thirtieth release, it introduces another new face to its stable of deep house heavy hitters, that already includes names such as Leif, Miles Sagnia, Jayson Wynters and Dubbyman. All of whom, like new boy here, El Choop, earned their chops in the ranks at respected Welsh festival Freerotation. Unlike those other alumni though, El Choop's pedigree leans heavily on dub techno, as evidenced on previous releases for Default Position and Etui. This latest missive blends the best of both worlds, two crystalline cuts of the deepest house with subtle shades of dub. It's the sound of late-night drives, or stolen closed-eye, post-party moments. Closing out the release, there's a full-side remix of lead cut New Speak from deep house royalty, Nail, who opens up some Basic-Channel like space with a shot of DiY swing. Pure class.

Edinburgh based producer, Rai Scott, returns to Ornate Music, previously releasing on the imprint back in 2014. This long overdue followup to her Innershift EP brings ethereal atmospherics and hypnotising percussion. The opener is a dreamy and celestial vibe with gently rolling beats, while Version 2 is more defined by the smeared chords which spiral to the heavens. 'As Honest As She Lived' is another electric lullaby with well-crafted ambient pads and 'Nina' ends with layers of bells, glistening keys and shimmering melody that soothes the soul.

Breezy, easy vibes smoulder through every inch of this brand new 12 from label regulars Jonno & Tommo. Over the past ten years the pair have worked their magic through all strands of the house spectrum on labels such as Trelik, Finale Sessions, Verdant as well as Ornate, but on here, chief cut Biosflash places them squarely back in the domain of laidback, deep house. This is a perfect summer roller, and can't fail to put a smile on your face, as you roll your windows down. Stratocaster keeps the sunshine vibe high, yet mines a little deeper, channelling the sounds of classic late-90s deep house labels such as as Seasons, Straight Up and Rotax.

Two bona fide deep house heavyweights, Brawther and Andres, both lend their unmistakeable touches, taking one track each, giving this package a little something extra.

It's out of the shadows and into the light with the next release on Ornate music. At the reins is OCH, a name you might not have heard in a while, but whose solid and reliable CV names Sect, All Inn, Baby Ford's Trelik and PalL SL among his label references. In all honesty, it's like he never went away. We get three cuts of precision deepness. Lean, rather than minimal, these are fat-free, perfectly balanced excursions into the ethereal edges of house. Tight claps, subtle, eerie vocal samples that drift in and out of the mix, the mood is uplifting without any need for euphoric histrionics. This is refined music that won't sound out of place on the floor at CDV or Sunwaves, whenever we can return to the dancefloor. Or, in the meantime, kicking back at home when the sun unexpectedly brightens the winter mood. if you ever wanted to know what a beautiful day sounds like, now you know.

To coincide with the release of Nail's - Eggs EP we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to do a mix purely of Ornate music releases and given the labels proclivity to weave amongst the four forms of House, Techno, Disco & Electro we thought we best ask the dashing Mr. Shiver a master of this very thing.
And the result as I think you’ll all agree is an extremely delightful trip through the archives with a few future nuggets thrown in for a healthy dose!
