Nave Migratoria is hosting the Or Noir Sessions at his home and is more than happy to share his first Set. He has been traveling for more than ten years between Europe and South-America and lived for four years in Bogotá. During his stay, he has been digging vinyl all around the country; from the small hidden stores in the bustling capital to the dusty shops of the vibrant Cali, the world class city of Salsa. His sets are composed of traditional Colombian and Latin music such as cumbia, pacific, afro or salsa

@djradiohobo - german-venezuelan curator/DJ founder of radio shows like „Troptopia“ on Cashmere Radio or the rare groove radio show @rrytm on THF Radio.

Since 2016 Radio Hobo's vinyl sets are mainly packed with tropical sounds from the 60s-80s and have brought him from Bruxelles to Rotterdam, Cape Verde to Mali.

He played for radio stations all over the world (Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM, Bruxelles’ Kiosk Radio, Istanbul’s Year Zero, Palestine’s Radio AlHara or UK’s 1BTN Radio, to name a few) and Gigs at Berlin Venues such as YAAM, Bartausend, Monarch, Klunkerkranich or Acud. Cumbia, Salsa, Compas, Beguine, Afrofunk, Afrodisco, Highlife, Semba, Samba, Bossa – where he plays there is: Tropical Heat Guaranteed!

@la_vecina likes to dance and has found in music a way to connect with the earth, with the places where she is, with the people. She grew up in Colombia and has been an admirer of the musical traditions of the Gran Caribe, which is why her selections are dominated by Afro-Colombian rhythms, cumbia, salsa, but also those that bear witness to the long journey back and forth between Africa and Latin America.

He has been living in Berlin for some years now and as an international DJ, he has been manning the decks and spinning the vibes since 1999. He is the founder of "Beat On Feet'' which is a radio show and podcast series where he hosts different DJs and plays himself a variety of tempos, powerful beats, deep vibes and bargrooves.

@damattadj is a Brazilian artist, club DJ, musician and live promoter and is a crucial filter and curator enabling the 'now' sound of Brazil to cross continents through two production enterprises: BOSSA FM (Berlin) and YN MUSIC (Portugal).

His DJ sets elevate, with one foot rooted in South American and black music culture, the other tapping to the electronic eccentricities local to the dancefloors of Europe. A self confessed vinyl addict, the tower of influence stems from both fresh and classic strands of boogie, disco, jazz, Brazilian funk, bossa soul and afro samba - blended and cut - often embued with electronic bleeps and bass designed squarely at the dancefloor.

From the distance, gathered in nights of cumbia and “baldosas de salsa”, the unthinkable passion for music of three friends took the form of vinyl and needles, leading them to create what is now @neciosberlin: a group of Selektors from Colombia and Ecuador. Their collection embrace an amalgam of sounds from Latin America and its deepest roots.

Australian Musician, film maker, festival curator and journalist @jimmytrashorchestra has been the lifeblood of Berlin good times for 16 years. She once hosted together with her DJ Crew a regular Funk Party 'COOL WHIP' with international modernfunk live acts and djs.
Now she is travelling with her records through Germany, Europe and beyond, webbing her net of boogie funk, disco and Love.
Femdelic shifts between the various delicious flavours of funk; electronic, boogie, breakdance, disco, modern styles, afro and more, with an all-knowing wisdom of what's good for the dancefloor, and when to take those left turns that create the magic moments!

Session #19 - DJ Costalero

DJ Matatu is a Berlin-based researcher on Afro-diasporic movements and cultures. In 2002, he established Black Atlantic Beatz, a soundsystem dedicated to the promotion and celebration of vinyl records from the Black Americas and Africa with a focus on soulful sounds from the 1960s and 1970s. His sets take dancers on a transnational and hemispheric journey, connecting Raw Soul & Deep Funk with Latin Soul-Boogaloo, Salsa Brava, Cumbia, Calypso, Samba, Afrobeat, and 21st century tropical bass sounds such as Baile Funk, Kwaito, Kuduro & Coupé Décalé. During the last two decades, DJ Matatu has hosted regular dance parties in clubs such as Acud, Pfefferberg, Dr. Pong, Mauersegler, and Cutie (Bielefeld) which featured guest DJs and live performances by artists from Berlin´s vibrant Black & Latino music scenes. He also supported international live acts such as Seu Jorge, Pax Nicholas & Ridimtaksi, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, Kumar Sublevao-Beat, La Mákina del Karibe & Wagner Pá from the decks. Research on his forthcoming book on the significance of Soul music for the rise of Black Power in Afro-Latin America lead him to New York, Rio de Janeiro, and Panama from where he returned with overweight suitcases filled with records.
