For two years running, Polish talent Mizar B has made unforgettable contributions to our annual "Only Silk" compilation series. On this year's "Only Silk 04," Max Flyant featured Mizar B's triumphant "Behind That Door" near the end of his continuous mix, to climactic effect. For our latest single, we are thrilled to share a full-length version of Mizar B's original mix, alongside brand new interpretations by celebrated Silk veterans Aeron Aether and Blugazer.

The original version centers on a deep, yet buoyant rhythm section, hypnotic arp line, and lush, after-hours soundscape. A variety of mellifluous themes begin to seep into the mix, including a gorgeous piano theme, and, just as memorable, a gorgeous vocal hook. In the main breakdown, the blissful piano and vocals take center stage, paving the way for a groovy and emotive drop.

American veteran Blugazer offers a dreamlike interpretation, which descends into even deeper terrain than the original. Gorgeous, brain-tickling atmospheric effects permeate his sonic canvas, while subtly hypnotic variations on the original melodies carry the midrange of his composition. After a short respite in the main break, the gentle crescendo of the many atmospheric layers continues onward, allowing the song's soothing arrangement to completely envelop the listener.

Beloved Hungarian veteran Aeron Aether, who remains our label's director of audio mastering, makes his first artistic appearance on our imprint in years; needless to say, we are overjoyed to welcome him back. His remix fittingly is in the niche of progressive breaks, a genre to which he has contributed enormously (since 2008) and has truly helped to define. In the early going, the adrenalin-fueled bassline and beats pack a tremendous punch; at the quarter turn, Aether's (signature) symphony of emotive atmospheric effects make a cinematic entrance. An unconventional, yet exhilarating lead synth cuts through the mix soon thereafter. In the latter half of the composition, these awe-inspiring elements unite, creating a soundscape that is both haunting and rapturous.

Empathy Test return for 2017 with their new EP ‘By My Side’. With echoes of CHVRCHES and Purity Ring, the enigmatic duo have impressed with their brooding electro sound; winning critical praise and a legion of dedicated fans worldwide. Empathy Test evoke a cinematic appeal with their songwriting and showcase an ability to transform the mundane into something beautiful and tragic. This partly stems from their inspiration by sci-fi worlds. Isaac Howlett and Adam Relf formed Empathy Test after discovering a mutual love of eighties sci-fi soundtracks and underground dance and indie music, with the name Empathy Test being taken from the film Blade Runner.

The new EP follows last year’s stunning ‘Demons / Seeing Stars’ release, and only adds further intrigue to their forthcoming debut album. The EP’s eponymous opener explores the emotions of desire within a dysfunctional relationship when all avenues of reconciliation have been exhausted. The listener is initially lulled into a false sense of security; with it’s serene synths and snaps twinned with more emotive lyrics of throwing “another lover on the fire”. The track swells until the soaring chorus perfectly balances the yearning sentiment of the lyrics “Don’t you wanna be by my side?”

If ‘By My Side’ represents the trauma of the EP, then ‘Vampire Town is the emotional light at the end of the tunnel, and conveys a sense of healing. The spacious washes and haunting vocals throughout the EP integrate to form an overall sense of darkness and mystery; and ultimately tell a story of longing, regret and, finally, acceptance. It’s a method that captures the duo’s strength and goes straight for the jugular. Empathy Test are renowned for captivating their live audiences with their branded mix of analogue synth sounds and eighties pop beats; and are playing upcoming shows and festival appearances around Europe - including Electronic Winter (Gothenburg, 28/1/17), Synth Pop Goes Berlin (Berlin, 17/2/17), and Amphi (Cologne, 22/7/17). Moderat - The Mark (Interlude) from Annihilation (CONFLUENCE Remix)

@henry-saiz & Band return for another round bringing you further adventure into the world of their recently released audiovisual album project ´Human´ tickling some heartstrings again.
The title track of the album, which is an incredibly pure, raw song focused on textures and sensation, mixing acoustic and electronic elements, turned out to be the guys´ probably most personal oeuvre yet. Trying to recreate the lights and shadows of the African savanna, original song also aims to show the listener the chaos of a place brimming with life and drama, and the beauty so astounding that it shakes our conception of what it means to be human. And it does.
´Human´ then gets a beautiful makeover from Permanent Vacation's @benjamin-fr-hlich-permvac who couldn´t help himself and delivered two equally stunning versions - passionate, precise, powerful and entirely committed to the original´s aesthetic. Overall they are rousing overtures backed up with concrete drums, hypnotic beat tools, trippy chants and emotional atmospherics. Bursting with melody, soul and emotional weight, each of them is gradually unveiling an utterly enthralling musical story. 
Finishes up the package a Romanian producer @liarinth who delivers a spacey and swirling remix that´s an epic fusion of nostalgic synthwork with its distorted lo-fi synthlines, spellbinding sound design, chanting vocal chops, distant pads and ravey breakbeat. With producer´s signature emotional poignancy that´s instilling a mind high, his remix is a musical soundscape that´s subtly enchanting and completely gripping.
´If there is a place that shows how the environment determines our perception of reality, that place is Africa´, - the guys say, and this package surely helps you further down that line.
