This piece is a very minimal piece specially for an installation about Volcano's in Science museum Museon in Den Haag, The Netherlands.
This is one of the two pieces I have been working on.
The other one is still in the process of being finished and is the explosive part of the volcano.

One from the deepest vaults of my collection. 

One of the biggest achievements I have ever made with my music was being played by the legendary John Peel.
This is a recording from him announcing the piece, making a mistake and eventually playing the piece. This is still an honor to me. 
My deepest respect goes to this man. 

Glass was released on a compilation called "We're running out of west - narrominded compilation" that came out on narrominded in March, 2002. It is a LP + CD.

Aside from making music and running a label during my day job I work at Fairphone. Fairphone is company that makes a phone to address and change the problems in the supply chain of consumer electronics, such as worker conditions, the use of blood minerals and the life time/cycle of products. https://www.fairphone.com/

Because we were getting close to 100.000 likes on Facebook a colleague and I were joking around on how it would sound if you would have a big stadium with 100.000 people having their Fairphone ring at once. But what started as a joke got me playing around with our standard ringtone.

The result is this piece, which actually sounds more as if you are standing outside the stadium and just hear the huge amount of phones ringing and the sounds reverberating through the huge space.

100.000 Fairphones

Recorded this on my morning trip to work on my phone. 
Did some very simple eq to get rid of most background noise. 

At first I thought it were some birds, but after asking Artis on Twitter found it is are Yellow-cheeked gibbons.
What an amazing sound. Really made my trip to work an amazing experience, because you could hear it from quite some distance. 

Hopefully next time I have a proper recorder with me, and not just my phone.
