Brazil-based dj/producer Marcal is one to keep an eye on these days. The tracks he has produced are being played by artists like Ben Sims, Luke Slater, DJ Bone and Dave Clarke, while also having released EP's on labels such as REKIDS and JAM and making remixes for recently released tracks (one of which is from our friends LYRIC on ROOMTRAX). 

He is a successful DJ as well, having played on events like Lost and Found and Spectrum. He hasn't been sitting still during the pandemic, as he has appeared on Rinse France alongside Radio Slave and Hybrasil, while also appearing on numerous podcasts such as Room Trax and Adroit

He has made a stellar 56-minute set for us with all the funk, groove and soul we love. We've been looking forward to this one for quite some time.

Specializing in the space between mental and fast-paced, groovy techno, Paula Koski always keeps her selection one step ahead as she explores her take on modern techno. Part of the LGBTQIA+ community, the Finnish-born, Berlin-based DJ is a resident and one of the key members of techno platform, festival, event series and label, Monument. Paula creates physical dance floor experiences alongside DJ Nobu, Aurora Halal, Rrose and the likes, with continuous appearances at Tresor and its sister Tresor.West, as well as other key clubs in Europe and beyond.

EPM Podcast 159 is a totally upfront new techno mix from Token Records’ head man, Kr!z. Led by deeply hypnotic grooves, syncopated rhythms and reverberating atmospheres, his DJ style teases the collective, driving minimal beats into a heady cauldron of volcanic funk. Bringing together such electronic luminaries as Marcelo Antonio, Altinbas & Cirkle, Oscar Mulero, Robert Hood, The Advent, Mike Parker, Norbak, Border One, Isabel Soto and several of his new studio productions (including the soon to be released ‘Atlantis’), Kr!z shows us why both he and Token have been at the forefront of techno for the last 15 years.   

After making a name for himself as a skilled DJ with sharp focus and a quick mixing style in home country Belgium and the Netherlands, Kr!z launched Token Records in 2007. It has since been a leading outlet for heady, purist sounds. He rapidly established the label as a fixed value with a timeless and powerful sound and took it around the world with label nights on every continent. Token remains important in defining techno today - always straightforward, sometimes weird, often catchy – all under the helm of Kr!z as avid A&R.

After 12 years spent assiduously focused on curating the Token discography, showcasing artists he has nurtured and supported over this time, and incorporating the connoisseur’s knowledge and experience he has cultivated in his work as a DJ, 2019 saw the release of his long-awaited debut EP on Token. ‘Mantra’ received high acclaim by both media and the scene's key DJ’s. This continued in 2020, when he released the track ‘Scorpion’s Tail’ on Voltage Imprint and ‘Malice’ & ‘Imperative Needs’ as part of a split EP with Pfirter on his MindTrip label. 2022 will be his most prolific year to date with three full EPs seeing the light of day: ‘Neutrino EP’ on James Ruskin’s Blueprint Records, ‘The Tunnel’ on Setaoc Mass’ hotshot SK_eleven and a third one on his own Token Records.

Kr!z’s new EP ‘Atlantis’ is released 25 November on Token.

Hailing from Belgium, Steven Petitʼs Border One project has amassed an
irrefutable reputation in his home country and beyond since the release of his first 12-inch record in 2015. Between a fascination for sound discovery through the use of his modular synthesizer and his loyalty to the classic club rhythms, Border Oneʼs style serves as a swiss-army knife for promoters and DJʼs on an international level.

With a self description expressing a priority to make the crowd move, his music does not fall short of its intention. Forward thinking in its conception rendered highly functional in its implementation, Border Oneʼs music finds middle ground in an increasingly polarized musical climate for the genre; whether it be through his selection as a DJ or his technicality as a producer. Considering this, his release catalogue seems only appropriate. He has released EPʼs on Knowledge Imprint, Setaoc Masseʼs SK-X, his own Border One Records, Freddy Kʼs KEY vinyl imprint, and the infamous Token Records to name a few.

He is a fusing and pulsing rhythm with a cutting drive, binding it with a strong signature groove.

In the early 90s, techno hits Japan. Surprised and intrigued, Takaaki Itoh was impressed with this sound. This unique style of beats revealed the gateway to a world of underground music in Japan, something he had never heard before.
Surprise slowly gave way to addiction when Takaaki Itoh heard the sound of such artists like UR, Derrick May, Axis, Hardfloor, Sven Väth, Harthouse, Warp and Rising High. 
Finding out he just couldn't get enough of it, in 1994 Takaaki Itoh began to organise his own techno parties in Norioka Iwate, having success by providing fantastic line ups.

In 1996, he decided that it was time to start making his own tracks, so he went out, purchased the vital instruments and began producing. 
After sending out 3 finished tracks to various labels, Electracom UK made the first contact with him, and followed to release his first track. This moment was something he will never forget, as for the first time in his life he was able to finally release his own record. 
Then several releases followed and he began to appear in DJ charts and magazines all over the world.

Takaaki Itoh's Japanese style of techno is purely unique, underground and nothing that had been heard before in Europe. 
In a couple of years, he became recognized as the most underground and expected japanese Techno DJ.
Takaaki Itoh has now taken the next step and started his own label Wols, whilst keep playing in great venues wolrdwide.

@benales is a DJ and producer known for his unique blend of raw, dark, and deep techno and house, with nods to Detroit influences. Based in France, he has been making waves in the underground techno scene since the late 90s. With an extensive vinyl collection and a talent for selecting tracks that resonate with crowds, Benales has become a respected DJ in Europe, regularly playing at top clubs such as Tresor, Rex Club, and Le Sucre.
Aside from his skills behind the decks, Benales is also a gifted music producer. He has released several EPs and remixes on acclaimed labels such as Sino, KEY Vinyl, Suburban Avenue, Analog Solutions, Knotweed, Diffuse Reality, and more.

A surefire provider in Amsterdam’s well-furnished techno community, Hitam has been making a name for himself with some choice platters for the likes of SYXT, Hayes and Room Trax over the last couple of years. Championing a sound as ebulliently driving as it invites us to dip our toes into further hazy sonic grounds, the Dutch producer swings the pendulum betwixt racing 909-fuelled horsepower and more subdued, fearsome climates. As ever clinical in his approach and deadly in his execution, Hitam has us tripping out to a hefty-handed two hours of relentless tech rage and hypnotic sound design laced into one smouldering hodgepodge of whelming, non-stop gusty sonics. Not for the faint-hearted.
