This is a mix I recorded in the summer of 1997. Amoeba SF hadn't opened yet and I was working at Rasputin Music in Berkeley. Classic tunes were lying around the Bay Area in abundance. It was a beautiful summer in a beautiful, and affordable, city. I was into some spacey deep house and techno at the time, and the mix reflects this.

House Brigade - A Madd Cry (Hardcore House Mix)(Christopher Orr Edit)

This is a recording of one of my sets from 2003. There was a really fun time to be had in some of the clubs and bars in San Francisco back then, early in the "Electroclash" period. The DJs in that scene had an admirable contempt for genres and I always had too, so I started to play in some of those places and this mix is from one of the parties. I also played a lot of hip-hop, rock and party stuff. 

It was a fun scene and a great time at the beginning of the Bush era, which ruined everything after it. 2002 and 2003, however, had an excellent, irreverent and eclectic spirit and hopefully this mix is a reflection of that.

Eclectro Mix 1

I'm not a huge fan of tribal house stuff but the original mix has one minute and seventeen seconds of sublime bass line action that I have always wanted to hear on its own for five minutes or so. I tried to create a mini arrangement that peaks with stabs of synth and vocalizing from the track. It works best as a DJ tool but I live for that bass tone.
