The music for this hymnpoem was given in a vision
to a monk of Mount Athos in Greece.
For centuries, Orthodox Christians have called
Valaam monastery in Russia “The Northern Athos”.
Like Mount Athos, Valaam is surrounded by water
and located in an isolated setting far from the world.
The monks' choir is absolutely surreal: both chilling and ecstatic...

The Trisagion Hymn occurs in the Divine Liturgy before the reading of the Epistle and Holy Gospel. The Holy Tradition of the Orthodox Church teaches that the faithful received this hymn from heaven, during a period of severe earthquakes in Constantinople.
