This track is called "The People" and it features the legendary Chuck D from Public Enemy. You can download it for free at our website http://goo.gl/9DWGVZ.

The idea for the song came from a couple of samples, and the track's vibe is earnest and has a pressing tone to it.  The lyrics are commentaries of our struggles and successes, our weaknesses and strengths... the experiences... and trials and tribulations we have faced as human beings, a race, and as individuals. Lyrically Chuck brings a sense of authority and urgency. The power in his voice demands your attention. With Chuck on the track this is a dream come true for us.

Originally "The People" was suppose to drop in June around the same time the Chuck D/Hot 97/Peter Rosenberg situation took place. We chose to hold off and not add fuel to any fires. Our next aim was for a Black Friday release. Coincidentally the Ferguson tragedy took place, and more recently the non-indictment verdict. Somehow this song was destined to be a part of something more than just dropping a joint.  We hope it will lend itself to something positive in these difficult times.

We created some merchandise for this song that is for sale (The People T-Shirt & Sweatshirt). Proceeds from the merch will be donated to two organizations: All Star Code and I Love Ferguson.

All Star Code is an organization that helps under served youth make their way into the tech industry.  We've been building, strategizing, and working with developers for the past year, and we understand the importance of education in tech. We have a music tech company that we'll be launching soon called Daisy (http://daisycollective.com/).  It's important that we have more people from our community and our culture involved in this space.  We just want to do our part in making that happen and ultimately help build the future of music.    

I Love Ferguson is a organization that's helping to rebuild the town of Ferguson, MO. We feel strong about helping and supporting the small businesses that have been affected in that area.

Osage (pronounced Oh-Sage) is the electronic music making alter ego of Philadelphia based dj/producer lil'dave. The man behind Osage is best known as a veteran DJ on the Philly nightclub scene and as a member of the highly respected dj crew Illvibe Collective. He has also been a fixture on the radio as the co-host of the internationally known broadcast Eavesdrop Radio. As a recording artist, he has released music under various aliases for record labels such as BBE Records, Tru Thoughts, Record Breakin' Music, Soulspazm, and First Word Records. He has collaborated with and remixed a diverse range of artists such as RJD2, Lady Alma, Ty, Ryat, Captain Planet, Foremost Poets, and more.

The Osage sound is an amalgamation of musical influences such as deep house, samba, African rhythms, futuristic r&b, boogie, uk garage, salsa, broken beat, and soul. His music is built from slightly unorthodox drum programming, layers of synthesizers, and a focus on bringing the soulfulness out of the machines he is working with. Over the years, he has been building a solid reputation by creating a catalog of clever dance floor edits, remixes, and original tracks which have been supported by notable tastemakers such Gilles Peterson.

GE-OLOGY and Byron The Aquarius of Sound Signature fame and Tartelet veteran James Braun deliver three outstanding remixes of Wayne Snow’s feel good tune ‘Nothing Wrong’ taken from his debut album ‘Freedom TV’.

The original version, produced by Naples-based duo Nu Guinea, is an irresistible up-tempo funk tune that has been getting serious spins from some of the most respected selectors in the game.

Ge-ology’s ‘In-Reverse-Reflip’ mix is a trippy ten-minute journey through layered in-reverse melodies and subtle acid carried by a tight, stripped-back groove. The result is a hypnotic gem that sits comfortably in any late night set.

Byron The Aquarius slows it down for his ‘Live Mix’ adding a playful bassline, live drums, rhodes and synth almost reminiscent of Kool & The Gang’s 1974 hit ‘Summer Madness’.

Le natif de Baltimore était plutôt branché hip-hop mais s’intéresse à tout depuis tout petit, depuis ses cinq ans exactement, âge auquel il a acheté son premier disque. GWEN BUNN is a musical triple threat from Georgia. The singer, songwriter, producer became an industry phenomenon when she produced the single ‘COLLARD GREENS’ by SCHOOL BOY Q featuring KENDRICK LAMAR, which earned her her first GRAMMY nomination as a producer. GB’s significant contribution to HIDE&SEEK is the ever so funky ‘WITHOUT A DOUBT’.

Hailing from Washington DC, we are delighted to present the mysteries and wonders of MUHSINAH. Having collaborated with COMMON, JAZZY JEFF and of course THE FOREIGN EXCHANGE, MUHSINAH enlightens our space with ‘SOMEBODY IN MY WORLD’. 

Next up is the exciting sound of US based trumpet player and composer, LERON THOMAS featuring the stand out vocals of BILAL on ‘ROLE PLAY’. BILAL needs no intro as one of the fore fathers of the Neo-Soul / Jazz movement. LERON THOMAS is one of today’s most coverted musicians having consistently worked and toured with the likes of ROBERT GLASPER, LAURYN HILL and MOS DEF.

STEVIE WONDER and everyone’s favourite DJ, DJ SPINNA is up next with the exclusive song ‘TONIGHT WE RIDE’ featuring the Soul laced vocals of our very own PHONTE. This one for sure is the HIDE&SEEK sing-a-long jam.

TAMISHA WADEN is a member of THE FOREIGN EXCHANGE touring band but here we see her shine as a solo artist with the stunning ANITA BAKER esque ‘GOOD FOR ME’.

THE DIVIDENDS is an American musical duo that consists of GRAMMY winning producer S1 and singer/songwriter SARAH JAFFE. The guys drop the hot single ‘SUMMER GLO’ featuring Dallas based rapper/singer SAM LAO.

Last but by no means least is the super fly DAVID HARNESS remix of ‘JUST WHATCHA LIKE’ by ZO! feat. JOI. Already championed by some of the biggest DJ’s, this joint is pure fire!!

In January of 2009, Justin Carter and Eamon Harkin started Mister Saturday Night. At first, it was a party at a club, but after a few months, they forged a path that would make the Mister something more special, taking it into private homes and DIY spaces that allowed for deeper connections to music.

Almost a decade later, Mister Saturday Night has become an institution, spinning off the beloved all ages, all-walks-of-life Mister Sunday parties; starting Mister Saturday Night Records, the respected label that's put out milestone records from Anthony Naples, Denis Sulta (as Atlus), Dark Sky, Keita Sano, General Ludd, Gunnar Haslam and Nebraska; and opening Nowadays, their own space for dancing, listening, learning and making in-real-life human connections.

In the summer of 2017, Harkin and Carter are celebrating Mister 250, the 250th party under the Mister banner. For an outfit that's set up the venue from scratch for nearly every party in nearly thirty different spaces, it's a milestone worth celebrating. 

Mister Saturday Night: Then and Now is a selection of songs that have come to define the party – as well as some recent discoveries that reflect Eamon and Justin's ongoing commitment to unearthing and sharing the music they love.
