To help myself focus on writing and completing tracks I've been trying to give myself a brief for each one, as if a client was requesting a specific piece/style of music. This is based on Millbee (youtube.com/millbeeful, twitch.tv/millbee) as a sort of "theme tune" for his channel and personality.
