Songhoy Blues have announced details of the release of their debut album, Music In Exile, which is released on Transgressive Records on Monday 23rd February 2015.

The tracklisting of the Nick Zinner / Marc-Antoine Moreau produced album is as follows:

The album will be preceded by the release of a single Al Hassidi Terei / Mali on Monday 8th December 2014. The single will be available on 7” and digitally.

Once one of the most prominent and powerful of Mali’s many ethnic groups, the Songhoy, who hail from the banks of the Niger River between the ancient cities of Timbuktu and Gao, have suffered a long slow decline since their apogee in the 6th and 17th centuries. Now largely living on the margins of the West African nation whose political and cultural life is dominated by the Bambara people of the south, they nonetheless retain a fierce pride in their history, beliefs and music.

Guzo is the debut release of young Ethiopian pianist Samuel Yirga. Against the odds, Samuel found his way to music school in Addis Ababa and despite still being in his 20s and only having left music school relatively recently, he has developed at a pace remarkable for someone of his age. He has gone on to become one of Ethiopia's most promising young musicians and composers and in recent years, Samuel has gained wider international recognition through his touring and recording with Ethio-fusion group Dub Colossus.

Mulatu Astatke (born 1943; surname sometimes spelled Astatqé) is an Ethiopian musician and arranger best known as the father of Ethio-jazz.

MUYIWA KUNNUJI( NIGERIA ) Creator and leader of Osemako band 

Muyiwa grew up in the orthodox-church setting of hymn singing and influences of the classical and gospel genres. His other musical influences, which would form the bedrock of his musical career, include Afrobeat, Highlife, traditional Yoruba and Ogu rhythms, jazz, and blues.
Muyiwa Kunnuji, a self-taught trumpet player, has played with Fela Kuti & Egypt 80 and later on, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 band, Tony Allen and Ayetoro. He has also featured prominently with Christy Essien, Steve Rhodes Orchestra, Beautiful Nubia and many other bands of note.
With over twenty years of experience playing on the international music scene, Muyiwa has launched his own band in France, which plays his originals, some of which he wrote while he resided in Lagos, Nigeria.
The band bears, through Muyiwa's compositions, messages of hope as well as delight. The music is centered around the traditional Yoruba and Ogu rhythms, Afrobeat groove, Highlife elements, laces of South African Jive, Jazz influences and components of Juju music, all making it intimately bound to dance.
Since 2012, Osemako has performed at different festivals and various stages in France. Among others, Osemako has performed at Jazz à Vienne (2014), opening of the festival L'agglo au ryhthme du Jazz (2015).
Their debut Afroclassic-Beat album titled "Mo Juba O" features Muyiwa Kunnuji’s original compositions and arrangements, a fusion of different African and African-influenced genres; thus creating a wide appeal as global trends in music move towards syncretism.
