Polygonia's deftly enchanting "Bloom" EP unravels with the melancholic blur of a waking dream. Conjuring the vivid echoes of a phantom forest, fluttering atmospheres swirl amidst shimmering voices as they compel the mind to wander. A remix from Forest Drive West deepens the spell, stretching the punctate rhythm of "Dreaming Trees" into a siren's call, a beguiling echo rippling beneath the flow of time.

Much akin to an auditory vignette, is Clément Davout aka Adhémar’s reshaping of Across Sellenti by Nils Edte. Stretching across 15 minutes, the sonic landscapes shift and scatter with elements fading in and out of existence, giving movement and a sense of unpredictability. Sweeping pads and textures lending a natural edge, evoking imagery of unnamed jungles or forests enveloped by night. All backed in the signature Adhémar fashion with tribal percussion and muted kicks that make his music instantly recognizable.

As part of a longer form release, Adhémar has created a flowing 50 minute journey of Nils Edte’s contributions through his musical lens. Even creating an entirely new track from the elements of the starting material. This reshape, and the rest of the release will be out February 8th.

"Like opening a door to the unknown or an invitation to a very familiar and intimate place. Crossing that door or inhabiting that place, we make ourselves comfortable, keep silence and listen to a record. This is With Eyes Closed by ABSIS, an invitation to recollection and silence with the sole objective of surrendering ourselves to the pleasure of music and electronic synthesis.

In this release, Absis displays a somewhat obsessive and compulsive mastery of machines. Pure and hard synthesis in search of the perfect sound or at least the sound that the artist is imagining. There are seven tracks that at the beginning call us to contemplation and introspection and that evolves into a collective call to share a dance floor; in short, it is a complete, circular and fantastic album, in the strictest and most literal sense of the word.

In With Eyes Closed each sound occupies its right and proper place, respecting each of its frequencies, its brilliance and intentions. In it, nothing exists just for the sake of it, on the contrary, each element has a function and a role to play within a fantasy: pure and hard synthesis of a remarkable cleanliness and lucidity.

Crossing that door or inhabiting that place it is inevitable to close our eyes, it is a natural and instinctive reflex, as if we wanted to turn off the other senses and surrender ourselves to the ear. Closing our eyes, the music enters through our skin and becomes part of us."

Following three noteworthy appearances on compilations by On Board Music, Huinali Recordings, and Lost in Translation, New York-based duo Moon Patrol introduces their first long-player, “Mountain House Music.”

Moon Patrol consists of Irina Kotik and Gilles Wasserman, mainly known as co-founders of deep techno and ambient platform Delayed. Irina, a classically trained musician, contributed the melodic parts, and Gilles has been leading the rhythm section of the productions - an excellent symbiosis with meaningful output. A symbiosis whose soundscapes are an ode to the beauty of transitionary states and reflective exploration. “Surface Tension” and “Raflo Ren” grasp the fresh and misty air, with mountains slowly appearing through the morning fog, accompanied by wooden percussive beats. Likewise, the title track, “Mountain House Music” seems to be devoted to the passage from a dreamy, meditative state into an active physical space.
Throughout the ten tracks, we can hear the couple’s harmonious relationship with nature - may it be Prospect Park as their Brooklyn refuge or mountain retreats in upstate NY and Vermont - both spaces and the moods induced by them make an appearance through carefully selected and arranged field recordings (“Inparké” and “Beautiful Brook”). Moon Patrol, though having produced together since 2017 already, took their time to craft their own way of musically syncing and connecting with like-minded artists, such as Dutch producer Love Over Entropy, who took care of mixing the album.

Friends play a significant role in Moon Patrol’s symbiotic ecosystem and that’s why close friend Aspetuck contributed a breezy - grooving remix of “Wevok” - closing the LP with an uplifting, life-affirming note that teases to dance.
“Mountain House Music” was produced in the spring of 2022 while processing a loss in the family. It hence addresses symbiotic relationships and how our interdepence with nature and friends serves both as inspiration and refuge. Though naming their primary inspirations as Boards of Canada, Lord Of The Isles, Ripperton, and Khotin, Moon Patrol found their own very reflective, niche sound in the atmospheric down-tempo realms. A sound that is distinctively organic, immersed in exhilarating exploration, and full of airy breaks.
