This month’s Carhartt WIP Radio show features @donato-dozzy, one of the country’s most profound electronic music producers and DJs, internationally renowned for the hypnotic and manifold ways in which he can create deep, absorbing techno trips.

Dozzy first honed his skills at the mythical squat-slash-club Brancaleone in Rome, before moving to Berlin in the mid-aughts, where he elevated his signature style even further with his “Dozzy’s Night” residency at Panorama Bar. Since then, he has gone on to grace line-ups alongside esteemed peers, such as Marcel Dettmann, Jeff Mills, Surgeon, and his compatriot Marco Shuttle.

As a producer, Dozzy first began to make waves in 2004, and has since gone on to release a string of EPs and albums on labels such as Spectrum Spools, Tresor, or The Bunker New York. In addition, he also runs three record labels. Dozzy Records, launched 2006, @spaziodisponibile, established in 2016 together with DJ and producer Giuseppe Tillieci aka @neel, and his latest label @magacircemusica, together with the Spanish graphic artist and DJ @aliciacarrera. 

For Carhartt WIP Radio, Dozzy conducted a mix that gently immerses the listener into his rich body of work playing classics like “Gol” and remixes he has done for other artists, like the legendary experimental electronic group Cabaret Du Ciel. The material featured in this show was primarily focused on the latest additions to my Electro collection….a majority of the tracks were released within the past 2-4 years and some are bang up to date….I use the show as a creative outlet, it’s my way of exploring the latest sonic acquisitions. It’s broadcast and recorded 100% live and direct, so is by no means perfect, but hey - life isn’t perfect.

Sungate reaches the impressive milestone of 50 shows on OpenLab tonight, and to celebrate it they have invited the great Marco Passarini to the show.
Born in Italy, Marco is well known for his contributions to the developement of the Italo house and electro genres and playing a pivotal role in the techno scene since the early days. Expect a first class selection including one of his unreleased tracks.
Sungate co-founder Moy Santana continues for the second hour of the show, showcasing tracks by labels like So Ha So Hard Beach Entertainment and L.I.E.S among others.

Only very few DJ's can play a musically diverse set that manages to take a crowd on an aural journey without losing its through line. Well known for his intense mix of atmospheric techno and energetic house, young Basel-raised producer Ben Kaczor is one of those few.

In the electronic scene, the 25 year-old artist has, in short time, made a name for himself with his hypnotic textures, minimalist and elegant house, dreamy synths and impulsive productions. Ben Kaczor has released music on Soul Notes and its sub-label Stale, Files Rec., Merci Jitter and, most recently, on his own imprint KCZ.

Resident of the highly-praised Elysia Club, his success has lead to request sets throughout Switzerland and gigs in Berlin, Paris, Bangkok and Luxembourg. As promoter, he regularly organizes parties and events at various clubs in the Basel area, presenting renowned international acts.
Between whiles Ben Kaczor can be found in the studio, working hard on future projects.

Oslated Mix Episode 95 - Ben Kaczor

After starting the mini Dekmantel Selectors podcast series two years ago, it feels like a tradition to bring it back to life. In the next couple of months, we will release 6 podcasts by some of the exciting artists from the line-up. This year’s podcasts challenges the artists to work around a theme or idea they picked theirselves. After Strange Boutique, it's Lena Willikens turn, who just released her brand new Selectors Compilation on Dekmantel Records as well.

It's safe to say that Willikens is one of the most delightfully unpredictable selectors we know. An affiliate of the exuberant Cómeme camp as well as Dusseldorf's renowned Salon des Amateurs establishment, Willikens' sets are built around her unceasingly eclectic tastes and ongoing infatuation with unusual sounds, making her primed again to move the Selectors dancefloor with the best bits of audio she's been able to dig up from the more twisted caverns of electronic music.

In anticipation of that, she put together a stunning mix which include heavy hitters from artists like Meat Beat Manifesto to Metamorphosis, towLie, Single Cell Orchestra and many, many more fantastic artists. Lena on her contribution: "I recorded this mix while moving from place to place in Amsterdam, trying to settle down. Huge thanks to De School which gave me access to their basement when I was trying to find a place to record."
