He who’s become an absolute gem trader over the years through a string of epoch-making efforts, including the time-proof masterpiece that is “Decay” in 2014, drops by to grace us with a mesmeric Xmas tale by way of waving goodbye to 2022. Extruding elements of techno deepness out their usual cast to mingle them with that exploratory, jazz-inflected approach of his - subtly pairing the lingering beauty of stretched-out synths with that of free-flowing 4x4 grooves and haunting melodies, Efdemin entices us on a path of delectably focused and flavourful techno sensibility. An absolute pleasure and honour for us to round off 2022 in such good company.

Now in its 200th instalment, this Podcast has given voice to a diverse offering of global talents across the musical spectrum, from the democratic rhythms of zeitgeist appropriate techno and house through to more avant-garde synthwork.

This next guest has cast a large shadow over the technosphere, so large in fact, that no introduction could fully encompass the breadth of his achievements. But in brief: Ben Klock is a titan whose formative years were spent playing marathon mixes to the crowds at Berlin’s (then recently opened) Berghain. Off the back of his endurance sets and the club’s success he became a household name whose influence grew to be felt across the world, with a body of work that includes appearances at an exhaustive list of clubs and festivals, a number of hot releases on Ostgut Ton and an equally respected self-run label (Klockworks) to boot. On this second imprint, his own productions have repeatedly seen the light of day, alongside those from the likes of DVS1, Sterac, Stef Mendesidis and younger talents like Temudo and Vil & Cravo. The sound, ubiquitous as it is, will be familiar to anyone involved in the world of electronic music and there’s good reason for that: Klock’s deep and percussive work and ability to pull from a wide range of influences have earmarked him as a unique agent for the techno cause. He's a prominent figure on the global techno circuit, gracing iconic venues such as Tresor and Berghain, as well as featuring at festivals worldwide, including the prestigious Labyrinth Festival in Japan. Semantica has served as a platform for heavyweight artists such as Surgeon, Oscar Mulero, Regis, and Donato Dozzy, as well as emerging talents like Acronym, Stanislav Tolkachev, Abdulla Rashim, Shifted, and Varg, among others. Svreca has been sharpening his vision through his own label, while also collaborating and recording for esteemed labels like Jealous God, Warm Up Recordings, and Spazio Disponibile.

Hailing from Argentina's capital city of Buenos Aires, deep techno artist Pulso is on an experimental journey that challenges conventional musical structures. With hypnotic analog sound structures, Pulso's music takes us on a fantastic journey that engages the mind and body at the same time. 
Since founding the SRIE label with Translate in 2013 and releasing numerous EP albums, Pulso has become a named producer in the deep techno scene, with releases on world-renowned labels such as KEY vinyl, Evod Music, Mindtrip, and Semantica. Psyk is a key player in Spanish techno, an acclaimed talent with firm emphasis on deep, repetitive loops. He has become synonymous with high-quality, trippy and smart as a tack rhythms. For the last two decades since he started out on Madrid’s clandestine rave beat, he’s developed and advanced a sound to near perfection: raw and technically agile, pelagic echoes from the abyss that have shifted with their changing times. 2011 saw him launch the widely renowned Non Series, a platform releasing the work of similar vein artists like DJ Nobu, Architectural, Neel, Nastia Reigel, Tauceti, Blawan, Luigi Tozzi, Function and Rrose, generating buzz and ardent following. His own releases on labels like Mote Evolver, Semantica and Tresor, intermittent forays on his own label under the alias Maan, as well as his co-project Second Skin (est. 2022) alongside fellow Madrileño Oscar Mulero have been slowly gaining traction in a contemporary music landscape replete with talent. Few artists can match the influence that Enrique Mena, AKA Svreca, and his label Semantica have had on contemporary techno. With over 20 years in the DJ booth, 200-plus releases on the label and some acclaimed original productions and remixes, Svreca has spearheaded techno’s second generation, helping maintain Madrid as an international hub for deep and driving sounds. 

As a DJ, Svreca draws from a wide sonic palette that includes noise, dub, avant-garde electronics, electro and, of course, techno. First, it was luminaries like Angel Molina and Oscar Mulero that inspired him; since then he has made it his mission to survey the scene and connect with its most original artists. He funnels these influences into a powerful techno sound for body and mind: immersive, textural and rhythmically complex. Whether in an open-air festival setting or a blistering, pitch-back basement, Svreca’s sets—always delivered with technical precision—are a psychedelic, physical experience. 

His sets are also inextricably linked to Semantica. It’s a two way relationship: the label has become a consistently excellent breeding ground for new talent, as well as home to some of techno’s finest artists. Equally, Svreca draws inspiration from shared moments on a dance floor to fuel the label’s creative direction. From its austere aesthetic (designed by Mena himself) to its boundless exploration of new formats, Semantica encapsulates the heady spirit of experimental techno.
