This is also the day it was announced that DMX had passed away.  While I wasn't a huge fan, I am a fan of people who persevered thru their own struggles with the odds stacked against them to make it on their own terms.  Towards the end I drop a track from DMX that I feel encompasses that.  I don't get to play that cut often, but it works well here and is very appropriate.

I haven't had a "SloMotion GetDown" inna minute so I  chopped it out of the original 4+ hour mix and gave it a good mastering.  Hope you enjoy! I did one of these back in 2000 or 2001 (that was not only inspired by Sade, but also by Norm Talley). It was on CD and encoded in Real Audio. Was probably one of my best promo mixes and one that people ask about the most at that time. I don't seem to have a copy of it anywhere so I thought it would be fitting to update. There's a couple of different versions of the same song on here but it all seems to flow nicely.

 It’s been about 4 years since my last Bedroom Disco mix.  In recording this I noticed I had recorded two drafts in 2015 that were never approved to groove...funny enough a couple of these tracks are in those mix drafts too.  There hasn’t been a lot of quality downtempo jams produced on vinyl in the past couple of years, so that’s part of the slow down in the mix series.  I love the slower jams personally and try to put at least one on a 12 inch vinyl release to keep stuff out there.  I sometimes feel like I’m putting those downtempo cuts on the record solely for me.  It probably hurts sales to some degree honestly.  Anyway, I was happy to see the “Playground” release drop from UC Beatz which two cuts are included in this mix (I dig the whole EP though) and JKriv put a few downtempo Brazilian gems on RNT036...LPs are another area where folks can take liberty to do some downtempo joints, but usually they’re pretty short or really experimental or maybe not very mix friendly.  Not the case with these JKriv cuts!

The discerning diggers' disco edit label of choice is back with more tricks conjured up from the top hat of party grooves past. Magic Wand have just the kind of quality control you want in an edit label, which is no more apparent than on the slow and sticky funk of Osmose's "Pour Myself" which opens up this latest 12". Sweetooth is marginally more animated but still resolutely chill with the Balearic overtones of "Edith & The Kingpin Remake". Baz Bradley unfurls some slick funk lines embellished with ecstatic piano, while Mushroom Project's edit of "Buyu" shakes things up with a heavy dose of Latin percussion.
