Science Cult Radio 022: X-Truder

The centennial podcast of this series is brought to us by Morah. At some point in his career, the dark prince of Athens and resident of the Phormix label and event series achieved a unique and iconic status with his unconventional take on gritty electronic music that transcends genres. The first time we experienced this in the flesh was in the old Griessmuehle location on the Sonnenallee in 2019 and were blown away.

Whether it was his debut release on Helena Hauff's label, or the many life-changing performances over the years that are well-documented, his body of work speaks for itself as he graces labels such as Berceuse Heroique, Vanila, Brokntoys, Lux Rec, and most recently on Body Musick as well as a self-released album called Zesta. He's captained the Phormix event series as a resident and is a core part of the Athens crew whose label boasts some of the most exciting releases coming out. He's added another time-lasting performance to his list during the most recent DT Camp two weeks ago. It should be no surprise that we invited him as a special guest for our ADE event together with Pinkman Records on October 19th and can't wait 

These are trying times for all with many significant global events taking place almost daily. With this as the backdrop, we hope this series has brought some enjoyment. Thank you very much to the artists that have contributed to the series over the last two years and to the listeners for tuning in every week. We look forward to seeing all of you on the dance floor. Berlin based Producer/Dj Douglas Lee’s project ‘An-i is the outcome of melding the aesthetics of 80’s synth and industrial sounds alongside the thumping forward momentum of techno.
An-i has released 3 records for Veronica Vasicka’s Minimal Wave/Cititrax label and can also be seen on many one-off’s comps and collaborations with Alessandro Adriani, Unhuman and his project Bad News with LIES boss Ron Morelli himself to name a few.

Whilst An-I focuses on punk affected iterations of Dance music, Lee’s DJ career spans over 2 decades, having sustained several eras of Dance Music, he is capable of elevating dance floors through various states of abandon seemless moving between Techno, Disco and Noise across any era or tempo.

Kutkh Jackdaw is a Scottish producer and DJ, now based in Brighton, whose productions and mixes take influence from a wide variety of different genres, from post-punk, darkwave and EBM, to synth, industrial and techno. He uses a range of techniques including a heavy use of inventive sampling, combined with extensive use of vintage 80’s hardware. His 'Sweat & Thunder EP' was released on Dark Disco, with tracks also released on Lunacy, Of Dolls & Murder, N.I.M, and Sonidos Subterraneos, mixes on various podcast series, and an appearance on Strict Tempo.
