@anna-rose-wirth has made a bit of a name for herself over the last year or so, throwing her epic WHOMP parties across London, with all profits going to amazing charities, primarily those supporting disadvantaged children in Nepal, by giving them the chance to seek an education.

Besides being a brilliant promoter, ANNX is also a pretty wicked  DJ herself. ANNX’s distinctly hazey, sexy sound, recently tore down the lovely Above Below festival and we’re delighted that after gawping throughout that set she allowed us to share the recording. Plug IN 💋

Influenced by her classical, jazz and punk past, she blends genres like magic, spinning vivid tapestries of colour, texture and sound with the intention of creating profound musical experiences. Recently relocated in Amsterdam, the Basque-born DJ and producer has emerged as one of Spain's most exciting rising stars in the last 2 years, captivating audiences at Sónar and Primavera Sound Festival while holding a residency at Human Club Razzmatazz. Out of the booth, she curates fauna & flora, a cutting-edge multidisciplinary event merging electronic music and digital art.

An Australian spotlight from one of the country’s shining stars, Andy Garvey.

Hailing from Sydney, Andy Garvey has cemented herself as a formidable force in the industry through her various projects that are all tied together by one centring mission - championing those around her and providing a platform to some of the sickest underground sounds. This is done through her platform Pure Space - a party, mix series and record label - focusing on ‘so-called Australian music’ as well as her previous residency on FBi Radio. Her work in radio and as a promoter underscores her commitment to nurturing the next generation of artists and pushing the boundaries of the genre.

Now back in Europe for the summer, where she’ll be based in Berlin, we catch up with Andy before the busy schedule begins. In the accompanying interview, we chat about first fandoms, how living in Australia has informed her work, a little peak into the curation behind Pure Space, Andy’s journey with production and Australian artists she'd like to put on your radar.

“I’m always listening to lots of different types of mixes and productions, especially from the 2000-2010 period, which definitely inspire my own mixes and productions a lot. There seems to always be a specific sound or moment in an old mix or track I find, which then inspires me to produce or dig for that vibe.”
 
“I have a few gigs and releases planned over the next few months, which I’m so so excited for! It definitely feels surreal to be playing outside of Australia for the first time. I have also been feeling very inspired production wise, making as much music as possible, including some new tracks which are in this mix :) ”

Embodying a profound and instinctual allure, Javier Salazar (@javrsalazar) remains an enigmatic force in the contemporary music landscape. Founders of rdg tribe (@rdgtribe), their sound is characterized by elegant and soaring rhythms creating immersion through a continued dedication to diversifying their selection, blending genres and atmospheres. The two are also part of La Vallée Electrique (@Melifera_Records) in which they shape a cohesive whole among the artists of the festival. Records from the duo are available on Oslated and their own imprint, drawing listeners into a smooth current of sounds.

NTS GIGI FM PRESENT ARTHUR (SUMMER SOLSTICE SPECIAL)

Rotterdam talent @nelly_dj for the newest contribution to the series, with a mix inspired by warm summer days in the city. Creativity is the tool Nelly uses to process, understand and cope with the world. She finds solace in forest walks as much as she does on darkened dance floors and losing herself in these moments allows her to reset, reflect and become re-inspired. 

With an intricate, developing journey from trip-hop, to deep techno, ambient, trance, dub and beyond, Nelly's world building approach has a certain pensive beauty to it.. perfectly fitting for the series.

Animix One Hundred & Fifty Nine: Nelly

Konduku (@kondukukonduku) is Dutch-born but with a proud Turkish heritage that colours the music he makes. It's impactful techno but with curious time signatures and minimalist percussive that draws on the rhythms of his ancestral homeland. As the son of a musician and Balkan folklore dancer, he was always set to spend his life in music and so far it's been a rich one that has included a standout debut album on Nous’klaer in 2018 and fresh EPs on the cult likes of Delsin, Bitta and Spazio Disponibile.

This week's mix showcases exactly what he is all about with 80 minutes of supple and subversive techno. Liquid tracks from Jeff Mills, Donato Dozzy, Shackleton and plenty of his own all feature in this timeless trip where slick transitions and carefully threaded grooves constantly build mood and atmosphere. From deep and cosmic to dark and dystopian, there is an always underlying tension that keeps both mind and body utterly locked in.
