Over the years, thousands of episodes of the Georgian Bay Explorer were aired on Bayshore Broadcasting’s CFOS radio station, delighting listeners with a daily account of the culture and heritage of the region. The long-time voice of the Georgian Bay Explorer was radio broadcaster Ross Kentner. Past OSNGUPL Chief Librarian and author / historian Andrew Armitage (1939-2021) researched and wrote The Georgian Bay Explorer. 

We have received permission from Bayshore Radio to host the existing audio files so that the public can continue to enjoy these historical tales about our community. 

The Georgian Bay Explorer was first broadcast in January of 1989. This album contains a month of the audio files still available (2008-2017).  The regional broadcasts of The Lake Huron Explorer (2009-2015), The Nottawasaga Explorer (2009-2015) and The Twin Lakes Explorer (2010-2015) are also available. 

Each album on SoundCloud is usually a month of the radio shows. This is an ongoing project and we will be regularly uploading additional albums during 2024 and 2025. On this inaugural episode of The Bulletin, we introduce our podcast hosts, describe the intent of the podcast, and speak to two guests: Seth, who is a teen volunteer with the library, who shares information about our Teen Advisory Group (TAG) volunteer position, and Shauna, who works at the library, and talks about her program, the Young at Heart Book Club.
