Mount Jam ( @mountjam ) is a promising producer hailing from Porto. He is preparing the release of an impressive debut project, that might blow up in the house music scene. Guest Mix #6: Dancefloor Pills By Mount Jam

Over the past year the Lisbon-based Bernardo Mota ( @bernardomotapt ) has become one of our favorite up and coming producers. His music has been conquering the underground house scene, having released countless mesmerizing edits, and putting out some slick EP’s and Singles via theBasement Discos, Fresh Take Records, Karussell and more. He was also featured in Jamie Jones’ Boiler Room in London and that speaks for itself. Mota is now preparing to drop the awaited Simple Times EP on Simplexia Records and 2021 might be special for him, with more releases coming out later in the year.

Guest MIX #11: Freedom Rotations by CUBALIBRE

We’ve been covering Joint4Nine’s work for a while. The moniker of Ivan Lozano (producer, DJ and co-founder of Nòmada Records) has been cutting various high-karat releases for some of our favorite underground labels such as Ondulé Recordings, Sengiley Recordings, Apparel Music, Broken District or GLBDOM. Most recently, he and his pal Jonahlo, delivered a tribute record to the roots of electronic dance music, creating the Rush City duo and releasing the Cosmic Vibrations EP with Handerk. The experimental mentality he imprints in his projects, never afraid of exploring different influences, have been cementing his status as an always-very-interesting producer and DJ.

"One of the things that I love the most is deejaying, I love doing it everywhere and everytime, it's a true pleasure for me. Lately when people asked me for podcasts or mixes, I tried to do these with a two hour length. Two hours is the perfect timing to tell a history with different genres and flavours on your mix. 
This mix brings broken beats, jazz, deep house, soulful, hip hop, electro, old school house, acid house, techno and afro.

"Timelines (Part 3)" is the third LP from Leeds-based multi-instrumentalist and marks the end of a trilogy that has gained admirers from the likes of Tom Ravenscroft, Moses Boyd, Bandcamp Daily (and many more) with the previous installments of this immersive listening project. Surmacz now delivers the final piece of the puzzle which sees him lock into a more laid-back frequency, opting for a slightly more zen approach - guiding the listener through a series of floating worlds and shifting soundscapes. PREMIERE: Greg Surmacz - Upstream [XVI Records]

A year ago we had the pleasure of being introduced to @immersifff EP via GLB DOM. "Indian Ocean Drive" carried a sophistication in its grooves that made us open our eyes to the work of the french producer. More recently, we crossed paths for the PREMIERE of the mesmering “Rue des Calades”, the title-track of his Closer To Truth Records EP, that showed a clear artistic direction and intention and cemented his status as one of the most interesting underground house producers in European soil.

This month we have the pleasure of having Immersif taking charge of our Guest MIX series, with a thoughtful selection of underground material that, more than presenting strong grooves, creates a mood for our summer stories. The sun is setting.

Guest MIX #17: Seasons Of Love by Immersif

Tomás Guimarães Vieira (also abbreviated to TGV - @tg_vieira) has been rotating in some of Porto’s best clubs and bars since he started DJ’ing more than ten years ago. Low-profile, focusing on a careful selection of sounds, TGV might not have the reputation of other DJ’s in the city (also because being a DJ is not a profession for him) but his sonic choices are up there where we need them to be. Luckily we’ve been hanging and learning from him, exchanging moods and excitements over music that connect us.

It’s with pleasure that we welcome TGV to our Guest MIX space for 1 hour and 30 minutes of pure deep house class. The track selection is outstanding, demonstrating his penchant for detailed and textured rhythms. From the CDJ’s decks to vinyl, from vinyl to CDJ’s.

Fred Aster ( @fredastermusic ) has been cementing his name in the underground deep house & electronic eclectic scene via his own, and acclaimed, production work, radio host duties and by leading one of the best African labels within the genre, Blur Records - an Angolan electronic music label established in 2018 that spinned-off from signature events showcasing an array of international artists. 

A few days ago we reached out to Fred offering our humble Guest MIX space for this month. His receptiveness was immediate and it’s really a pleasure to have him as the host of our 19th feature. Breathing and exhaling the best of jazzy, melodic and groovy house textures, he presents a hour of pure class. PREMIERE: Attica One - Ascension [Dope Tones Records]

"Mar De Fora” takes us into a candombe and bossa nova jam with spacey features. The sixth track of "Un Nuevo Amanecer" is a delight to our soul, featuring Félix Rossy on trumpet and Luís Táñez on cajón and guitar. Label boss Breixo Martínez makes a guest vocal appearance, singing about his muse and the Galician beach of Mar de Fora, overlooking the never ending ocean ahead.

Sauers (aka Pedro Gonçalves) is proud to announce his latest project, a four-track edits EP titled Sauers Presents: Dance Files from the Past, Vol. 1, out tomorrow on our own O Sótão Records. In this first volume of the series he dives deep into tracks by some of the most influential names in the scene.

This release offers a glimpse into Sauers' sonic explorations, where he breathes new life into forgotten disco cuts. Originally from Viana do Castelo and currently based in Porto, Sauers' curiosity about edits began with the work of Chicago artists who reimagined disco tracks for the house scene. "As I was collecting disco records," Sauers explains, "I started messing around with them, cutting out specific parts, looping them, and adding effects to create longer edits that felt more like house music."

Dance Files from the Past, Vol. 1 marks the first chapter in Sauers' ongoing exploration of hidden dancefloor gems. This EP promises to transport listeners to a time when creativity and groove took centre stage, serving as a reminder and as a fresh perspective on classic tracks. Available on Bandcamp.
