"Sabo's record label, Sol Selectas, once again sets off on its annual summer voyage, and presents the 9th edition of its critically acclaimed 'Summer Sol' compilation.

This year's edition features 25 tracks that orientate mainly around organic house, but it also incorporates other genres including downtempo, Afro house and melodic house/techno.

Each of the tracks on this release have a joyous sound that embodies the hot weather of these warm summer months, and the compilation is released on the day of the Summer Solstice to celebrate the year's longest day of sunlight.

Collecting tracks from around the world, Summer Sol's concept celebrates diversity, as regardless of race, religion or gender, we are all equal under the light of the sun. This year's compilation has music with origins from over 17 different countries, and it embraces different cultures through local instruments, different languages, and traditional melodies.

Sol Selectas is a pioneering record label that is known for mixing the cultural influences of different nations folk law with contemporary electronic music. Summer Sol IX features music from imprint regulars such as Sabo, Derun, Guy Maayan, and Desert Dwellers, but there is also music from several emerging talents who are working with the label for the first time.

Collectively, the artists who feature on this release have also contributed to other influential record labels such as A Tribe Called Kotori, 3000 Grad Records, Cosmic Awakenings, Baikal Nomads, Pipe & Pochet, Akbal Music, Mobilee and Global Underground.

The cover art by Helia Jamali takes us to a paradise beach escape where the sun warms up every cell of your being, and the ancient sand grains hold the secret sounds of the universe."

Ossie joins the Madhouse Records roster late November with his ‘Unified’ EP, accompanied by a remix from Soulphiction.

London’s Ossie has been steadily carving out a name for himself over the past few years with an impressive run of releases on Wolf Music, Hyperdub, Exploited, 2020 Vision and somethinksounds. Here though we see him joining the roster of Kerri Chandler’s infamous Madhouse Records, a perfect home for the artist’s Garage-infused twist on contemporary House.

Title-track Unified leads, employing classic house tropes with choppy chords stabs, warm strings, dusty 909 drums and jazzy Rhodes licks all further fuelled by bubbling echoes and vocal murmurs tucked into the depths. Soulphiction’s ‘Classic Mix’ follows next, as the name would suggest the German producer delivers a classic slice of Deep House driven by the originals soft chords and vocals whilst stirring in jazzy organ melodies and robust drums for good measure.

Your Box then closes the package laying focus on bumpy snares, crunchy percussion and a bleepy 8-bit pattern while soulful vocals and lumpy subs carry the hypnotic groove throughout.

Ossie Aneke a.k.a OSSIE is a London based artist and DJ, synonymous with forward thinking electronic productions on the UKs most crucial imprints. 

The past few years have seen releases on labels such as; Hyperdub (Kode 9), Madhouse (Kerri Chandler), Exploited, Wolf Music, Brownswood Recordings and his own in print SuperCali.

OSSIE has seen continued support from Benji B and his Deviation parties over recent years, including a stand out DJ set for the Boiler Room x Deviation stage at Notting Hill Carnival. 

2019 has been a busy year so far, with a sting of releases across the summer months (‘Yeah we feel it’ - Madhouse Records, ‘Better days’ - Sense Traxx) that have seen support from the likes of The Black Madonna, Jamie Jones & Laurent Garnier. Annie Mac, Benji B & Danny Howard have also showed regular love across the Radio1 network this summer. 

For the year ahead OSSIE shows no sign of slowing down, with the release of another dance floor weapon (‘To make you smile’) on his label SuperCali and a 4-track EP in the pipeline via Nervous records.
