Mathys Lenne explores new and immersive techno sonics with his ‘Detlev’ EP on Mutual Rytm.

French DJ/producer Mathys Lenne’s artistic vision is rooted in his deep connection to rhythm. Telling stories with his sounds while drawing inspiration from poetry and cinema and blending hypnotic textures with raw intensity, his music is widely supported across the scene via labels like Mord, Hayes and more. Across five vinyl cuts and three digital bonuses, the four-deck wizard keeps it deeply atmospheric with his label debut on SHDW’s Mutual Rytm imprint, combining elements of psychedelic rock, unique voice samples and saturated synths to create a sound that feels immersive and unrestrained in contrast to the fast-paced, visceral techno he has become known for.

‘Detlev’ opens up with hefty kicks that demand you quicken your step, while industrial effects and creepy design brings the detail that makes the track pop. The classy ‘Natural Born Killers’ rides on firm kicks with loopy percussive details tightly coiled, ensuring you are forever on edge as the drums march on. ‘Choose Your Pill’ is a stripped-back and pulsing deep techno cut with deft synths that peel off the groove, before ‘Untidy Echo’ delivers a cavernous sound with sparse hits and low-end rumbles that place you in the centre of an underground cavern. ‘Enfer ou Ciel’ featuring D.E.S brings a sense of melancholy in the occasional string sounds and watery droplets that float over more frictionless, meditative beats - while the trio of digital bonus cuts brings moody subterranean rollers ranging from snaking and dubby to more drum-led and eerie tones.

The debut release on Carícia Records sees longtime collaborators VIL and CRAVO refine the language they’ve developed through years of joint work, both individually and as members of the Hayes collective. Between them, their output on labels like Monnom Black, Klockworks, Self Reflektion and the aforementioned Hayes collective has consistently balanced precision with character, and this first chapter under their new imprint is no exception. Opening with SO RIGHT, the record sets a distinct tone, with rolling percussion and a hypnotic vocal line threading through the mix with restraint and control. 420%FODA leans into classic swing and texture, tightly looped and built for movement without ever overreaching. On the B-side, CRAVO oﬀers FUTUREDETROIT, a stripped-back piece with room to breathe, subtle in its shifts but firm in its intent. VIL rounds oﬀ the EP with HARD TO FIND, a playful closer that keeps things buoyant and dynamic, pushing forward without losing its shape. Carícia 001 is about clarity of purpose. No filler, no theatrics, just four tracks that speak for themselves.

Across four original tracks, Marco channels the tension, urgency, and emotional gravity that have defined his sound over the years. From gritty low-end power to cinematic builds and hypnotic repetition, these tracks are built with intent - to move bodies, challenge minds, and hold the floor in their grip.

The journey doesn’t end there. We’ve brought in two key remixers to reinterpret Bailey’s vision through their own lenses: The Advent, an undisputed cornerstone of the genre, delivers a groove-laced rework that’s equal parts punch and finesse - a masterclass from a true pioneer; and Kaiser, one of the most distinctive voices in today’s generation of techno artists, strips things down and dials up the pressure with a deep, percussive take that hits with precision.

We’re proud to host Marco Bailey for this special chapter in the Frenzy story, and we invite you to dive deep into this powerful body of work.
