Mote-Evolver kicks off 2014 with Future Modular EP from Luke Slater’s Planetary Assault Systems alias, presenting sharp-as-ever fresh sound of P.A.S. that has enticed the audience as long as the mighty ‘Systems’ have existed. 

Never a stranger to a forward thinking sound aesthetic and with a title like ‘Future Modular’, P.A.S. packs the EP with 4 tracks (with digital-only ‘Subtracted Mix’ of the title track) that spark with Futurism and tightly channel the energy at the tip of the boiling point.

The title track sets the tone of the EP - positively powerful and playful - with its groovy bass drum and acid infusing an ample dose of funky rhythmic variations. But it wouldn’t be P.A.S. without the thrilling tension that locks you in, “Riot in Silo 12” on the B-side slips into the darker side, keeping the hats just below the surface and layer by layer uncovering the electrifying suspense throughout the track. “Serc” pops open with the bursting energy of kick drum then takes you to the uncharted realms of cold minimalistic drops reminiscent of early Sähkö purism, and masterfully brings a variety of moving elements and textures into dynamic captivating techno.

Future Modular is yet another top form techno EP full of ideas and dimensions from P.A.S., a superb successor to the constantly floor-stirring his previous No Exit EP to offer kinetic prowess that never diminishes.

With the worst of the pandemic in the rear-view mirror, Danish virtuoso DJ Tool can finally get back to IRL raves, and championing a signature brand of techno that blurs the gulf between the heady days of 90s trance and present. This is his second round for the Bassiani podcast series, a high voltage return to his Copenhagen roots. They’ve fully grown: quicksilver rhythms that have to be seen (and felt) in the flesh, though this one’s a glimpse of that magic at home. Next up in our mix series is Zitto & Zurkin, two central figures and cornerstones in the Tbilisi-scene. Zitto is a resident at Bassiani, and is turning into one of the most intriguing figures for the local clubbing sphere, with his level of selection and world building. Zurkin is another central figure of the Tbilisi community, being the co-founder of Vodkast Records, both an imprint and Tbilisi vinyl oasis for fervid record lovers.

In this episode we are presenting a marathon live recording of their closing set from Bassiani, January 27th. Dive into this 9,5 hour ride, where they navigate between trance and psychedelic techno from the past three decades. Steering seamlessly through rolling chuggers, trippy euphoria and wormhole trance, Zitto and Zurkin are a truly fruitful symbiosis.

Kongas started as a personal escape, a space for relaxation and detachment from a creative routine that, while fulfilling, sometimes needs room to breathe.
And it was right in this room where it all began, where he experiments, plays, and where Kongas first came to life.

In a little over a decade, Separat has proved his mettle behind decks in his hometown Aachen, current base Cologne and other places like Gewölbe, Tresor or Openground. His sound has been instrumental in the local scene, a true underground talent and one of the heads behind Brandwerk. His press presence is fairly light, and a keen focus on his sound the most critical part of his work: groovy, immersive and playful.
